The 2024 film “Wicked” will be released on February 4th on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Jon M. Chu directed the movie. It was based on a stage play (with music and lyrics) by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, from the novel by Gregory Maguire, and characters created by L. Frank Baum. The film’s cast includes Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. It’s most certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (based on critics) and “Verified Hot” (based on the audience) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 2.39:1 aspect ratio 1080p HD video presentation with Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases will each include a digital copy of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. It’s also worth noting that there will be several special 4K releases. These include a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) and a 4K UHD Blu-ray Giftset (pictured further below). Both are available for preorder with the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook being an exclusive to retailer Walmart and the 4K UHD Blu-ray Giftset available at Amazon (and elsewhere).
