Wicked: For Good comes to 4K and Blu-ray in January

The 2025 sequel “Wicked: For Good” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 20th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Jon M. Chu directed the movie. It starred Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, and Bowen Yang. It also co-starred Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Verified Hot” by audiences at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K releases will each come as a 2-disc set “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc are each now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray over at GRUV as well.

There will also be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release (pictured below), which will be an exclusive at retailer Walmart. It’s now available for preorder.

The Jet Li Collection is coming to 4K in late July

“The Jet Li Collection” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 29th via Hong Kong Cinema Classics, presented by Shout! Studios. The box set will feature 5 different films starring martial artist/actor Jet Li. Those films include:

  • “Fist of Legend” (1994) directed by Gordon Chan
  • “Tai Chi Master” (1993) directed by Yuen Woo-Ping
  • “Fong Sai Yuk” (1993) directed by Corey Yuen
  • “Fong Sai Yuk II” (1993) directed by Corey Yuen
  • “The Bodyguard from Beijing” (1994) directed by Corey Yuen

The five movies have all been scanned in 4K and feature matching tech specs. These include a 4K video presentation (for each) in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The audio (for each) will include the original Cantonese in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono, featuring English subtitles. This 10-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterparts included for each film.

The 2024 film Wicked on 4K and Blu-ray in February

It’s most certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (based on critics) and “Verified Hot” (based on the audience) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The 2021 Marvel Studios film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 30th via Disney. The 2000 film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon“ will be getting a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on December 1st via Sony. The film, directed by Ang Lee, starred Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Lang Sihung, and Cheng Pei Pei. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Mandarin Dolby Atmos sound, with a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 core, and English subtitles, as well as English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. Jon M. Chu directed film “Crazy Rich Asians” comes to Blu-ray Disc November

The 2018 romantic comedy “Crazy Rich Asians“ starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 20th via Warner. The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is based on the best-selling novel of the same title written by Kevin Kwan. The film has received much critical acclaim, in fact (at time of writing) it is “Certified Fresh” via a 92% rating on the tomatometer over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update. The title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and Best Buy. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and Digital Copy of the film included.
