The Banshees of Inisherin on Blu-ray in December

The 2022 film “The Banshees of Inisherin” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 20th via Searchlight Pictures (Disney).  The film, written and directed by Martin McDonagh, stars Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, and Barry Keoghan.  It is most certainly worth noting that this film is, at the time of writing, overwhelmingly “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.  You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailers Best Buy and Walmart.  The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

Sequel Terrifier 2 on 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2022 sequel “Terrifier 2” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray (exclusively) and to Blu-ray Disc on December 27th via Cinedigm.  The film, written & directed by Damien Leone, stars Lauren LaVera, David Howard Thornton, Elliott Fullam, Felissa Rose, and Chris Jericho.  It’s certainly worth noting, that at the time of writing this, this horror film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray both include a presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  It appears no form of high dynamic range will be included with the 4K release, based on the fact the 4K digital version also lacks HDR.  The 4K physical release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured above) as an exclusive and now available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  Also, both a Blu-ray Disc “Collector’s Edition” and an exclusive Blu-ray Disc SteelBook are now available for preorder, as well, over at retailer Walmart (pictured below).

The Woman King on 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2022 film “The Woman King” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 13th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  The film, based on true events and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, and John Boyega.  It is most certainly worth noting that this film, at the time of writing, is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in 2.40:1 with Dolby Atmos.  The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.  Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases (individually) will include a digital code (copy) of the film.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.

2002 film Adaptation comes to 4K in December

The 2002 film “Adaptation.” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 6th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Spike Jonze, was based on a book (“The Orchard Thief”) with the screenplay adaptation written by Charlie Kaufman, and it starred Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton, and Chris Cooper.  It’s most certainly worth noting, that at the time of writing this, the film is still deemed“Certified Fresh” (all these 20 years later) over at Rotten Tomatoes.

This movie has been newly remastered in 4K from the original camera negative.  The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and a new Dolby Atmos sound mix as well as the original theatrical mix in a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 configuration and even a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound mix.  The release will only include a 4K disc and a digital code (copy) of the film.  So, again, there will be no Blu-ray with this release.

Jordan Peele film Nope on 4K and Blu-ray October

The 2022 film “Nope” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 25th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment, according to numerous retailers.  The film, written & directed by Academy Award-winner Jordan Peele, stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Wrenn Schmidt, Keith David, Michael WincottBarbie Ferreira, Terry Notary, Devon Graye, and Donna Mills.  It’s most certainly worth noting that the film is, at the time of writing, “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the back packaging, tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation, shifting from aspect ratios of 2.20:1 to 1.78:1, with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation also with 2.20:1 to 1.78:1 aspect ratio shifts and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc.  Both 4K and Blu-ray releases will come as a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both including a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  It’s also worth noting that there will be a few retailer exclusives for this film on 4K.  First off, retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which is up for preorder but not yet functional.  Also, pictured further below, you can find that retailer Walmart will be getting exclusive artwork for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release which is now available for preorder.

The Power of the Dog gets Criterion 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 film “The Power of the Dog” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 8th via The Criterion Collection.  The film (as seen on Netflix), directed and adapted to screenplay by Jane Campion, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kirsten Dunst.  It’s certainly worth noting that, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a 4K DI (digital intermediate) master which was approved by the director (Jane Campion).  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 or Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will be a 2-disc set with its Blu-ray counterpart.
