2021 film In the Heights on 4K and Blu-ray in August

The 2021 film “In the Heights” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 31st, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, produced by and based on a musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Jon M. Chu, stars Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Jimmy Smits. The film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% rating, at the time of writing.

UPDATE #1: The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film.

2013 sequel G.I. Joe Retaliation is coming to 4K in late July

The 2009 film “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 20th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The sequel to the 2009 film, based on the popular Hasbro action figure franchise, directed by Jon M. Chu, featured a cast of Dwayne JohnsonChanning Tatum, Bruce Willis, Ray Park, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, D.J. Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Lee Byung-Hun, Luke Bracey, Jonathan Pryce, Walton Goggins, RZA, Joseph Mazzello, and Arnold Vosloo.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as Dolby TrueHD 7.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. The bonus materials set to be included with this release will be an audio commentary, found on both the 4K and Blu-ray disc, and extras only on the Blu-ray listed below.

Jon M. Chu directed film “Crazy Rich Asians” comes to Blu-ray Disc November

The 2018 romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 20th via Warner. The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is based on the best-selling novel of the same title written by Kevin Kwan. The film has received much critical acclaim, in fact (at time of writing) it is “Certified Fresh” via a 92% rating on the tomatometer over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update. The title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and Best Buy. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and Digital Copy of the film included.
