Black Adam comes to 4K and Blu-ray in January

The 2022 DC film “Black Adam” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 3rd, 2023 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, based on the DC comics character and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell,  and Pierce Brosnan.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.  Both versions will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each including a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc available for preorder over at retailers Amazon and Walmart. UPDATE:  You can now also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  There will be retail exclusives too, starting at Walmart with an exclusive limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray Funko Pop! Gift Set (pictured below) and now available for preorder.

Sequel Terrifier 2 on 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2022 sequel “Terrifier 2” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray (exclusively) and to Blu-ray Disc on December 27th via Cinedigm.  The film, written & directed by Damien Leone, stars Lauren LaVera, David Howard Thornton, Elliott Fullam, Felissa Rose, and Chris Jericho.  It’s certainly worth noting, that at the time of writing this, this horror film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray both include a presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  It appears no form of high dynamic range will be included with the 4K release, based on the fact the 4K digital version also lacks HDR.  The 4K physical release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured above) as an exclusive and now available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  Also, both a Blu-ray Disc “Collector’s Edition” and an exclusive Blu-ray Disc SteelBook are now available for preorder, as well, over at retailer Walmart (pictured below).

Halloween Ends on 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2022 sequel “Halloween Ends” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 27th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by David Gordon Green, stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and James Jude Courtney.  This marks the conclusion, as the title suggests, to the “Halloween” film franchise and the story involving the “Laurie Strode” and “Michael Myers” characters.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39.1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39.1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning the 4K will get its Blu-ray counterpart and the Blu-ray release will get its DVD counterpart with each including a digital code (compatible with Movies Anywhere) of the film.

Jordan Peele film Nope on 4K and Blu-ray October

The 2022 film “Nope” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 25th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment, according to numerous retailers.  The film, written & directed by Academy Award-winner Jordan Peele, stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Wrenn Schmidt, Keith David, Michael WincottBarbie Ferreira, Terry Notary, Devon Graye, and Donna Mills.  It’s most certainly worth noting that the film is, at the time of writing, “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the back packaging, tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation, shifting from aspect ratios of 2.20:1 to 1.78:1, with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation also with 2.20:1 to 1.78:1 aspect ratio shifts and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc.  Both 4K and Blu-ray releases will come as a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both including a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  It’s also worth noting that there will be a few retailer exclusives for this film on 4K.  First off, retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which is up for preorder but not yet functional.  Also, pictured further below, you can find that retailer Walmart will be getting exclusive artwork for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release which is now available for preorder.

E.T. getting 40th Anniversary exclusive 4K releases

There will be some retailer-exclusive releases of the 1982 film “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” to celebrate the 40th Anniversary on 4K UHD Blu-ray later this year.  The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, starred Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Drew Barrymore, Peter Coyote, Robert MacNaughton, and C. Thomas Howell.  It’s most certainly worth noting that this film is currently back in select theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

No word on if this release will feature anything new in terms of a video transfer or different audio mix but it is likely just a re-release of the original 2017 4K UHD Blu-ray.  That featured a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X immersive sound on a BD-66 disc.  These releases are going to be coming in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film with each.

So, the 4K UHD Blu-ray retailer exclusives for this release range in release date and I’ll note that for each.  First off, you have an Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray 40th Anniversary Edition Gift Set (pictured above and below).  That includes a collectible tin tote (lunchbox), thermos, booklet & certificate of authenticity.  This is going to be released on November 1st and you can now find that 4K Gift Set available for preorder now over at Amazon.

Next, you have a 4K UHD Blu-ray 40th Anniversary Limited Edition SteelBook release which seems to be exclusive to retailer Target, said to be coming October 18th (pictured further above and below).  That SteelBook is now available for preorder, again, over at Target.

Finally, you will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray 40th Anniversary Limited Edition release with a BendyFig figurine over at retailer Walmart (pictured much further above and below).  This release is said to be coming on October 18th and is now available for preorder over at Walmart.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 4K and Blu-ray

The 2022 film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 26th, via Marvel Studios (Disney).  The film, directed by Sam Raimi, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Rachel McAdams.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will include its Blu-ray counterpart and both will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.

Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Matt Reeves, stars Robert Pattinson, Paul DanoZoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, and Andy Serkis.  It’s most certainly worth noting that, at the time of writing this, the film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE #1: The release has just been officially announced by Warner and a press release has been issued.  Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray to include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.

Speaking of retailers, now, let me cover all the retailer exclusives coming for this film.  First off, Target lists that they’ll have a Blu-ray exclusive but the artwork appears to be the same, so I’m not sure what is unique about that version. However, rumor has it, it is said to include an exclusive 15-minute featurette and alternate artwork.

Next, retailer Walmart will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Giftset (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.  It does appear to include a 3rd disc (a Blu-ray) which could mean that it features some additional extras? We shall see.

“The Batman Walmart Exclusive 4K Giftset in a Batarang-themed box set. The Limited Edition Exclusive Giftset includes 2022 The Batman movie on 4K, Blu-ray, and digital copy.
