The 2023 film Renfield is coming to 4K in April

The 2023 film “Renfield” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 1st via Scream Factory. The film was directed by Chris McKay. It starred Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Nicolas Cage, Ben Schwartz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Brandon Scott Jones.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. This release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon, at Walmart, or directly via the distributor’s website. Also, a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook will be available on April 1st as an exclusive at Walmart. It is pictured below and is now available for preorder.

The 2024 film Wicked on 4K and Blu-ray in February

The 2024 film “Wicked” will be released on February 4th on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Jon M. Chu directed the movie. It was based on a stage play (with music and lyrics) by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, from the novel by Gregory Maguire, and characters created by L. Frank Baum. The film’s cast includes Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. It’s most certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (based on critics) and “Verified Hot” (based on the audience) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 2.39:1 aspect ratio 1080p HD video presentation with Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The Shining gets a Walmart exclusive 4K SteelBook

The 1980 film “The Shining” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release exclusively at retailer Walmart on February 4th. This release comes via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film was directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on the novel written by Stephen King. It starred Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, Scatman Crothers, Barry Nelson, Philip Stone, and Joe Turkel.

NOTE: This film was previously released on 4K UHD Blu-ray in 2019. At that time there was a another exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook with different (yellow) artwork from a different retailer. That was a totally different release than this and appeared at Best Buy. Back when they supported physical media. This new 4K SteelBook features different (red) artwork than the original poster featured on the previously mentioned SteelBook release.

The tech specs for this 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ or HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. This release is a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. It will also include a digital copy of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook exclusive at retailer Walmart, pictured in further detail below.

The 2024 film “Twisters” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 22nd via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, a sequel to “Twister” (1996), directed by Lee Isaac Chung, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and hDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 2024 film adaptation of “The Crow” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on November 5th via Lionsgate, according to retailers. The film, directed by Rupert Sanders, stars Bill Skarsgård, FKA twigs, Danny Huston, Josette Simon, Laura Birn, and Sami Bouajila.

According to retailers, the 2024 film “Borderlands” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 22nd via Lionsgate. The film, based on the 2K video game of the same title, directed and co-written by Eli Roth, stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

John Wick Chapters 1-3 4K SteelBook Set at Walmart

The “John Wick Chapters 1-3: Stash Book Collection – SteelBook Box Set” will be available exclusively at retailer Walmart on July 31st via Lionsgate. The set includes the first three films in the franchise:

  • “John Wick” (2014)
  • “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017)
  • “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019)

It will not include the fourth film (chapter) in the franchise. All three films star Keanu Reeves as the title character. Tech specs for each film include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” will include the Dolby Vision form of high dynamic range.
