1995 film Desperado comes to 4K SteelBook in August

The 1995 film “Desperado” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on August 27th via Arrow Video. The film, written & directed by Robert Rodriguez, starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Joaquim de Almeida, Cheech Marin, Steve Buscemi, Danny Trejo, and Quentin Tarantino. The movie has received a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative by Sony Pictures. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless 2.0 Stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Below is a glimpse at the packaging and contents for the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook.

It’s also worth noting that there will be a release of Robert Rodriguez‘s “Mexico Trilogy” as a 4K UHD Blu-ray / Blu-ray box set on the same day [8/27] via Arrow Video (pictured above). That includes the films “El Mariachi” (1992), “Desperado” (1995), and “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” (2003). Sadly, only the 1995 film “Desperado” will be presented in 4K resolution with the 1992 and 2003 films will only be receiving Blu-ray Disc treatment in 1080p HD video quality and uncompressed Stereo 2.0 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.
