Desperado is getting a standard 4K in March

The 1995 film “Desperado” will get an standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on March 25th via Arrow Video. The film was written & directed by Robert Rodriguez. It starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Joaquim de Almeida, Cheech Marin, Quentin Tarantino, and Danny Trejo.
The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original camera negative by Sony Pictures. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround and 2.0 Stereo sound.
NOTE: This is not the first time the film has been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format. It was previously released included in a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook. It was also part of a Blu-ray box set with “The Mexico Trilogy” in August of 2024.

The 2003 and 2004 films “Kill Bill: Vol. 1” and “Kill Bill: Vol. 2” will get standard 4K UHD Blu-ray releases (individually) on January 21st via Lionsgate. The films, both written & directed by Quentin Tarantino, starred Uma Thurman, Lucy Lui, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, and David Carradine. It’s worth noting that both of these films are “Certified Fresh” based on critic reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K releases include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-100 disc. Each release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy of the film included. The 2009 film “Inglourious Bastards” will get a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc release on January 14th via Arrow Video. The film, written & directed by Quentin Tarantino, starred Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, B.J. Novak, Daniel Brühl, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, and Mélanie Laurent.

It’s also worth noting that there will be a release of Robert Rodriguez‘s “Mexico Trilogy” as a 4K UHD Blu-ray / Blu-ray box set on the same day [8/27] via Arrow Video (pictured above). That includes the films “El Mariachi” (1992), “Desperado” (1995), and “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” (2003). Sadly, only the 1995 film “Desperado” will be presented in 4K resolution with the 1992 and 2003 films will only be receiving Blu-ray Disc treatment in 1080p HD video quality and uncompressed Stereo 2.0 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.
