Desperado is getting a standard 4K in March

The 1995 film “Desperado” will get an standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on March 25th via Arrow Video. The film was written & directed by Robert Rodriguez. It starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Joaquim de Almeida, Cheech Marin, Quentin Tarantino, and Danny Trejo.

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original camera negative by Sony Pictures. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround and 2.0 Stereo sound.

NOTE: This is not the first time the film has been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format. It was previously released included in a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook. It was also part of a Blu-ray box set with “The Mexico Trilogy” in August of 2024.

1995 film Desperado comes to 4K SteelBook in August

The 1995 film “Desperado” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on August 27th via Arrow Video. The film, written & directed by Robert Rodriguez, starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Joaquim de Almeida, Cheech Marin, Steve Buscemi, Danny Trejo, and Quentin Tarantino. The movie has received a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative by Sony Pictures. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless 2.0 Stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. It’s also worth noting that there will be a release of Robert Rodriguez‘s “Mexico Trilogy” as a 4K UHD Blu-ray / Blu-ray box set on the same day [8/27] via Arrow Video (pictured above). That includes the films “El Mariachi” (1992), “Desperado” (1995), and “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” (2003). Sadly, only the 1995 film “Desperado” will be presented in 4K resolution with the 1992 and 2003 films will only be receiving Blu-ray Disc treatment in 1080p HD video quality and uncompressed Stereo 2.0 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. “Born in East L.A.” with Cheech Marin gets Collector’s Edition Blu-ray March

The 1987 film Born in East L.A. written by, directed by, and starring Cheech Marin is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a “Collector’s Edition” on March 19th, 2019 via Shout Select. This film co-starred Daniel SternPaul Rodriguez, and Kamala Lopez. The title’s tech specs have yet to be detailed, but it is known that new bonus materials are being created for the release. More details will be given by Shout! Factory about this release in the near future. This upcoming Blu-ray is not yet available to pre-order over at Amazon, but it is available directly over at Shout! Factory’s store. Stay tuned for any updates.
