1963 film Donovan’s Reef comes to 4K in April

The 1963 film “Donovan’s Reef” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 15th via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed by John Ford. It starred John WayneLee Marvin, and Jack Warden. The film also featured Cesar RomeroDorothy Lamour, and Elizabeth Allen. Additionally, Dick ForanMarcel DalioMike Mazurki, and Edgar Buchanan were part of the cast.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and audio has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for an update regarding the audio. It will come on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

It’s also worth noting. There will be a Blu-ray Disc Special Edition released on April 15th. This will also be via KL Studio Classics. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder at Amazon. The Blu-ray Special Edition is not yet listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update.
