The 1953 Western Shane is coming to 4K in July

The 1959 Western “Shane” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 15th via KL Studio Classics. George Stevens directed the film. It starred Alan LaddJean ArthurJack PalanceVan HeflinBen JohnsonBrandon De Wilde, and Edgar Buchanan. A Special Edition Blu-ray will also be available on July 15th via Kino Lorber as well.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation. It features a 1.37:1 aspect ratio. The presentation includes Dolby Vision or HDR10 high dynamic range. It also provides lossless Mono sound, all on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The tech specs for the Blu-ray Special Edition include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio and lossless Mono audio, on a BD-50 disc.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder directly via Kino Lorber’s website. The bonus materials included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

1963 film Donovan’s Reef comes to 4K in April

The 1963 film “Donovan’s Reef” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 15th via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed by John Ford. It starred John WayneLee Marvin, and Jack Warden. The film also featured Cesar RomeroDorothy Lamour, and Elizabeth Allen. Additionally, Dick ForanMarcel DalioMike Mazurki, and Edgar Buchanan were part of the cast.

It’s also worth noting. There will be a Blu-ray Disc Special Edition released on April 15th. This will also be via KL Studio Classics. The 1942 film The Talk of the Town gets a 4K in December

The 1942 film “The Talk of the Town” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 3rd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, directed by George Stevens, starred Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Ronald Colman, and Edgar Buchanan.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a Black & White 2160p video presentation in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio Mono sound. The release will include a digital copy of the film. You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon but stay tuned for an update.
