All the President’s Men is coming to 4K in February

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono sound. The 4K releases will each include a digital code (copy) of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Dirty Work gets a standard 4K release in July

The 1998 film Dirty Work is getting a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on July 29th via Vinegar Syndrome. The movie was directed by Bob Saget and was co-written by Norm MacDonald. It starred Norm MacDonald, Artie Lange, Jack Warden, Don Rickles, Traylor Howard, and Christopher McDonald. It also featured appearances by Chevy Chase and Chris Farley. NOTE: This was originally released exclusively online from the distributor, but will now be available elsewhere.

The movie has been newly scanned & restored in 4K from its 35mm OCN [Original Camera Negative]. The release will come in a 3-disc set. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-100 disc. The “combo pack” release will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart [in 1080p HD]. Another Blu-ray will be included for bonus materials. A total of three versions of the film are included with this release. The 82-minute theatrical cut and 83-minute “Dirtier Cut” are both in 4K and HD on the Blu-ray. There’s also a 2-hour “Assembly Cut” of the movie, sourced from video. Details about that are further below.

1963 film Donovan’s Reef comes to 4K in April

The 1963 film “Donovan’s Reef” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 15th via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed by John Ford. It starred John WayneLee Marvin, and Jack Warden. The film also featured Cesar RomeroDorothy Lamour, and Elizabeth Allen. Additionally, Dick ForanMarcel DalioMike Mazurki, and Edgar Buchanan were part of the cast.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and audio has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for an update regarding the audio. It will come on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

It’s also worth noting. There will be a Blu-ray Disc Special Edition released on April 15th. This will also be via KL Studio Classics. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder at Amazon. The Blu-ray Special Edition is not yet listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update. Robert Zemeckis film Used Cars on 4K in November

The 1980 film “Used Cars” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 15th [as spine #67] in the Shout Select line from Shout! Factory.  The film, directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis, starred Kurt Russell, Gerrit Graham, Frank McRae, Deborah Harmon, Joe Flaherty, David L. Lander, Michael McKean, and Jack Warden.

The film has received a new 4K from the original camera negative.  Tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed but you can expect a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio presumably with at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range.  The sound configuration has not yet been detailed, but if it is the same as the 2019 Blu-ray, should again include DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Mono lossless sound mixes.  This upcoming 2022 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “Collector’s Edition” 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included.

Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty comes to Blu-ray

The 1978 film Heaven Can Wait starring Warren Beatty is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 30th via Paramount Home Entertainment. This will mark the first time this film has been on the Blu-ray format, making it its debut. The film, co-directed & co-written by Warren Beatty, co-starred Julie ChristieJames MasonCharles GrodinDyan CannonBuck HenryVincent Gardenia, and Jack Warden. Heaven Can Wait was nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards and ended up winning the Oscar for “Best Art Direction / Set Decoration.”

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation remastered from the original negative under Warren Beatty’s supervision, presumably in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. While the audio presentation (likely in the original Mono) has not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. 1980 film “Used Cars” with Kurt Russell on Shout Select Blu-ray in February

The 1980 Robert Zemeckis film Used Cars starring Kurt Russell has just been announced to be coming to Blu-ray Disc on February 26th, 2019 via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). The film, co-wrote by Bob Gale (“Back to the Future”), featured a supporting cast of Gerrit Graham, Frank McRae, Deborah Harmon and Jack Warden. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been released, but stay tuned for a later update on that in the future.

UPDATE: The Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon.

The Blu-ray is also available for pre-order directly over at Shout! Factory‘s store. Lastly, it is worth noting that this title has been previously released on the Blu-ray format by Twilight Time back in 2014. This will be the second release here in the United States of the film on the Blu-ray format.
