The original 1981 horror film “The Evil Dead” will celebrate its 45th Anniversary with a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on July 7th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The movie was written & directed by Sam Raimi. It starred Bruce Campbell. The supporting cast included Ellen Sandweiss, Hal Delrich, Betsy Baker, and Sarah York.

This release boasts a 4K UHD presentation in its original (intended) 1.33:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), along with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 (2-channel) surround sound. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack,” with the Blu-ray Disc included in 1080p HD, along with a digital code redeemable through Movies Anywhere.

You cannot yet find the 45th Anniversary Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder on Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update as soon as it becomes available. Bonus material set to be included on the Blu-ray with the release is listed below, sorted by disc.

EDITORIAL NOTE: Yes, this movie has previously been released back in 2018 by Lionsgate on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format. However, it has since gone OOP (Out of Print) and sells for about 4 times its original price. This release will give fans a chance to own it for less in much better packaging. This time it will actually include supplemental materials and not just the audio commentary, as with the previous 2018 release.
