The 2025 film “Is This Thing On?” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 17th via Searchlight Pictures (Disney).
Bradley Cooper directed, co-wrote, and produced the motion picture. It stars Will Arnett and Laura Dern. The supporting cast includes Andra Day, Bradley Cooper, Sean Hayes, Amy Sedaris, Ciarán Hinds, Christine Ebersole, and Peyton Manning. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” based on critics’ reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.66:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart (exclusively) included, along with a digital code (copy) of the movie compatible with Movies Anywhere. The tech specs for the [included] Blu-ray come with a 1080p HD video presentation in 1.66:1 aspect and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround sound, on a BD-50 disc.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update on that soon. The only bonus feature included with the release is listed below.
- Mic Drop: Making Is This Thing On? – Go behind the scenes as filmmakers and cast open up about the inspirations behind this story of love, loss, and starting again. Get a glimpse into working with a remarkable ensemble and hear about how the team developed their comedy sets.
EDITORIAL NOTE: This 4K UHD Blu-ray and a DVD will be the only physical media releases for this particular motion picture. That essentially means that there will not [initially] be a standard [standalone] Blu-ray Disc release. If you want the movie to own, you’ll have to buy this physical 4K/Blu-ray combo pack. This is the first time that I can recall Disney opting for this strategy.
Further below, after the break, you can find the movie trailers and the full press release.

WHEN SEARCHLIGHT PICTURES’ IS THIS THING ON?
ARRIVES ON DIGITAL FEB. 10 AND 4K BLU-RAY™/DVD MARCH 17BURBANK, CA (February 5, 2026) – An intimate story of how love and people in love can evolve over time, Is This Thing On? is a cinematic emotional tour de force opening on digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home February 10, and on 4K Blu-ray and DVD March 17.
As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene, while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family – forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.
Searchlight’s Is This Thing On? reaches into the complexity of long-standing relationships, thoughtfully portrayed under the direction of Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born, Maestro). “Bradley’s openness invited us to explore the mess and mystery of love, the way we lose and find ourselves in partnership,” says Dern. Set against the scene of New York stand-up comedy clubs that Alex visits as a form of therapy, Arnett fearlessly rehearsed for his role by writing and performing standup bits in real world comedy clubs every night for about six weeks. Arnett also co-wrote the film with Cooper and Mark Chappell (See How They Run), from a story by Arnett, Chappell, and John Bishop (The John Bishop Show), whose life inspired the character of Alex.
A multi-faceted portrait of self-discovery and rediscovery of passions, Is This Thing On? delivers a hopeful and deeply human story to mature audiences through the performance of an all-star ensemble cast that also includes Andra Day, Cooper, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes (one of Arnett’s partners in the popular podcast Smartless) and Scott Icenogle (real life husband of Hayes, adding to the authenticity of their roles).
Searchlight Pictures’ Is This Thing On? has captured the attention of critics who note “Arnett and Dern are magnetic” (Billie Melissa, Newsweek), and that the film is “exceptionally crafted by director Bradley Cooper” (Pete Hammond, Deadline). Searchlight Pictures’ Is This Thing On? has also earned a Rotten Tomatoes® 86% Certified Fresh rating as well as film festival recognitions.
