The 2026 documentary “The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist“ is coming to Blu-ray on May 19th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

The movie was co-directed by Daniel Roher and Charlie Tyrell and produced by Daniel Kwan. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” based on critics’ reviews at Rotten Tomatoes. The 1980 comedy “Private Benjamin“ is coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 28th via Warner Archive (Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment).

Howard Zieff directed the movie, which starred Goldie Hawn. The film co-starred Eileen Brennan, Albert Brooks, Mary Kay Place, Armand Assante, and the late Harry Dean Stanton. It’s worth noting that this movie was nominated for 3 Academy Awards (“Oscars”), including best actress in leading and supporting roles.

The 2017 film The Snowman is coming to 4K in May

The 2017 horror film “The Snowman” will get 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray releases on May 26th via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber].


Tomas Alfredson directed the movie, which starred Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Val Kilmer. The supporting cast included J.K. Simmons, Jonas Karlsson, Michael Yates, Chloë Sevigny, Toby Jones, James D’Arcy, and Ronan Vibert. Martin Scorsese served as an executive producer on the motion picture.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc Special Edition counterpart included. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 sound, on a BD-50 disc.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray are not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned. This is the first time that I can recall Disney opting for this strategy.

Throw Momma From the Train is coming to 4K in April

The 1987 dark comedy “Throw Momma From the Train” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray on April 28th via KL Studio Classics (Kino Lorber).

Danny DeVito directed and starred in the movie. It co-starred Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner, Kim Greist, and Anne Ramsey. On a related note, Anne Ramsey received an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” in the film, back in 1988.

This comes from a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 audio on a BD-100 disc. The movie was co-directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard. It features the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Qua, as well as Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton, Bonnie Hunt, and Danny Trejo.
