Sixteen Candles Special Edition Blu-ray in April

The 1984 John Hughes film “Sixteen Candles“ will be getting a “Special Collector’s Edition” Blu-ray Disc release on April 14th, via Arrow Video. The film starred Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Justin Henry, Michael Schoeffling, and Gedde Watanabe. Tech specs for this new Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio from a new 4K restoration with both the original lossless Mono and 5.1 surround sound options. The release will include the Theatrical version (92 minutes) and an “Extended Version“ (94 minutes) that is premiering here on this new Blu-ray release. The upcoming Special Collector’s Edition Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon. Details about the release and the bonus materials, as well as physical extras set to be included on the release, are listed below.

Daniel Craig Bond Films get 4K SteelBooks March

As I had previously reported this earlier week, the first four of the “James Bond” / “007” films featuring Daniel Craig are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray as individual releases on February 25th. However, it now also seems that they will be getting individual 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook releases (pictured above) as exclusives over at retailer Best Buy on March 17th, three weeks later – on St. Patrick’s Day. The tech specs for the 4K releases include video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound – with the exception of the last film (“Spectre”) which is in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. All of the releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with each getting the Blu-ray counterpart and bonus discs (if available) and a digital code (copy) of each film. You can now find the four movies “Casino Royale“, “Quantum of Solace“, “Skyfall“, and “Spectre“ on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBooks exclusively available for preorder over at Best Buy.

2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast on 4K March

The 2017 live-action Disney film adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 10th, via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Bill Condon, featured a cast of Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can likely expect it to include HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. Also, there’s no info regarding the bonus materials set to be included on the release, but stay tuned for updates on that. The 4K will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy of the film). You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed for preorder over at Amazon. The film, winner of 2 Academy Awards (Oscars) was co-directed by Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise, featured a voice cast of Paige O’Hara, Robby Benson, Jesse Corti, Rex Everhart, Jerry Orbach, Bradley Pierce, David Ogden Stiers, Richard White, Jo Anne Worley, and Angela Lansbury. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can likely expect it to include HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound.
