Batman Beyond Complete Series Blu-ray October

BREAKING NEWS: announced at San Diego Comic-Con

The 1999 animated TV series “Batman Beyond” is getting a Batman Beyond: The Complete Series (Deluxe Limited Edition) Blu-ray Disc release on October 29th via Warner. The 6-disc set will include all 52 episodes, spanning across three seasons from 1999 through 2001. Out of those 52 episodes, it has been said that “41 have been fully-remastered from either their original 35mm film source or the uncommon format “OCND,” the original camera negative digital (a digital scan of original negative).” The release will also include the 2000 animated feature-length film “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker” in a Director’s Cut that has been fully remastered. The exact tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can expect 1080p HD video in the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Stay tuned for more info regarding the sound configuration and format that the episodes and film will be presented in.

Doctor Who: Complete David Tennant Blu-ray

British TV series “Doctor Who” will get a Doctor Who: The Complete David Tennant Collection Blu-ray Disc set on September 17th via BBC Studios, according to retailers. The 12-disc set will include the series episodes and seasons starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor – which span from the years 2005 through 2010. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned. I’ll try to reach out soon to my contact at BBC to acquire further info about this upcoming release. In the meantime, you can now find the Blu-ray set available for pre-order over at Amazon.

2019 film Yesterday on 4K and Blu-ray September

The 2019 Danny Boyle directed film “Yesterday” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 24th via Universal, according to retailers. The film, which uses music from The Beatles, stars Himesh PatelLily JamesSophia Di Martino, Ellise Chappell, and Joel Fry. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed for either the 4K or Blu-ray releases yet, but stay tuned for an update. It is known (from art) that both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K receiving a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both including a digital copy (code) of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray both are available for pre-order now over at Amazon. Also, they are listed as coming soon (with the release date) over at Best Buy.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 film “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 27th via Warner. The film, directed by Michael Dougherty, stars Kyle ChandlerVera FarmigaMillie Bobby Brown, Thomas Middleditch, and Ken Watanabe. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range as well as Dolby Atmos sound. NOTE: This is the first 4K title Warner has released with the HDR10+ form of HDR – as discussed HERE by John Archer of Forbes. The technical specifications for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and presumably the same Dolby Atmos sound? The press release didn’t mention but feel free to inform me if that’s not the case. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both receiving a digital code (digital copy) of the film. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available to pre-order over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the two released are listed below.

Charlie’s Angels (2000) comes to 4K October

The 2000 film adaptation of Charlie’s Angels is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 22nd via Sony. The film, based on the TV series of the same title and directed by McG, starred Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui, Bill Murray, Sam Rockwell, Tim Curry, Kelly Lynch, John ForsytheCrispin Glover, LL Cool J, Tom Green, and Luke Wilson. Tech specs for the 4K (although vague in the press release) would seem to include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio from a new scan with the HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos sound and even the original DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix.

UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon. The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that you will also get a Blu-ray Disc and a digital copy of the film included. Bonus materials set to be included on this 4K release and housed on the original Blu-ray are listed below.

Doom: Annihilation on Blu-ray in October

The 2019 direct-to-video film DOOM: Annihilation is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 1st via Universal. This film, based on the video game series (DOOM), was both written and directed by Tony Giglio. The cast for this includes Amy MansonLouis MandylorNina Bergman, Dominic Mafham, Luke Allen-GaleAmer Chadha-Patel, and Kate Nichols. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed, nor have bonus materials, but stay tuned for a later update on all of that. It is known from the artwork (pictured above) that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital code (digital copy) of the film included.
