The 1990 film Internal Affairs comes to 4K in December

The 1990 film “Internal Affairs” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray Disc on December 17th via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by Mike Figgis, starred Richard GereAndy GarciaNancy TravisLaurie MetcalfWilliam BaldwinAnnabella SciorraRichard BradfordMichael BeachElijah WoodKatherine BorowitzXander Berkeley, and John Kapelos.

The movie has received a new 4K master from a 16-bit 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon and directly via Kino Lorber’s website. The bonus materials included with the releases are listed below (by disc).

1992 film Candyman gets Collector’s Edition 4K in May

The 1992 film Candyman will officially be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray “Collector’s Edition” release on May 24th via Scream Factory in the US (United States).  The film, directed by Bernard Rose, starred Virginia Madsen, Tony Todd, Vanessa Williams, Xander Berkeley, Kasi Lemmons, DeJuan Guy, and Ted Raimi.

UPDATES:  The tech specs here include a 2160p video presentation from a new 4K master, as noted below, in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range.  It will also feature a new Dolby Atmos sound mix.  You can find details about that quoted, from ShoutFactory.com, below.

It is known (via the artwork, pictured above) that this release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.  You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray Collector’s Edition listed over at Amazon but it currently is unavailable.  However, it will be back soon, I assure you.

1997 film Gattaca will get a standard 4K release in June

The 1997 film “Gattaca” will be getting a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on June 15th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This news, from an early retailer listing, comes not even a month after the film just received a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release — which you can read about here. This release will be identical except it will come in a standard black 4K case. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.

The film, written & directed by Andrew Niccol, starred Ethan HawkeUma ThurmanJude LawGore VidalXander BerkeleyJayne BrookMaya RudolphBlair Underwood, and Elias Koteas. This movie has been newly remastered in 4K from the original camera negative.
