The classic 1932 original “Scarface“ film produced by Howard Hughes is finally coming to Blu-ray Disc – as an individual release – on November 19th via Universal MOD. The film, co-directed by Howard Hawks & Richard Rosson, starred Paul Muni, Ann Dvorak, Karen Morley, Osgood Perkins, C. Henry Gordon, George Raft, Vince Barnett, and Boris Karloff. This isn’t the first time this film has been available, as it was released (exclusively) as part of the “Scarface”1983 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition box set earlier this year. However, as mentioned, this will be the first time the film will be available on the Blu-ray format as an individual release. Speaking of which, this will be a MOD (manufacture on demand) Blu-ray title for Universal – as noted. This means that it will only be available online via Amazon and others. The tech specs for the release include 1080p HD Black & White video in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio Mono sound. You can find the Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

Today, October 21st is “Back to the Future Day” to fans of the popular film trilogy “Back to the Future” which appears is coming to the 4K UHD Blu-ray format next year. UPDATE: So, this started out as a rumor and I’ve now confirmed it. You’ll read more on that a bit below. Enjoy!
This was (to me) rumor at this point, but it held some strong validity to it. So, today on social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter) for both the film franchise and even on the Amblin Entertainment account they have been not only celebrating this date but they’ve also pointed out the obvious fact the first film is celebrating its 35th anniversary and to expect a 4K UHD Blu-ray release in 2020. Will it be just the first film or the entire trilogy? More on that later.
The original 1985 Robert Zemeckis directed classic that was “Back to the Future” was the first in the trilogy and truly itself remains iconic. I think that’s important to point that out. As even though we are looking to the future here, we have to start somewhere, just as Spielberg did to produce these films back in 1985 which he would continue to do with “Back to the Future Part II” (1989) and “Back to the Future Part III” (1990) – along with Zemeckis. Ready to hear if I think it will be the whole trilogy to be released next year in 4K or just the first film? You’ll need something similar to a road to get you there and that’ll be by continuing on. Or maybe you don’t need roads where you’re going?

The 2004 Edgar Wright directed film “Shaun of the Dead“ starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is getting an individual 4K UHD Blu-ray release on November 5th via Universal, according to an early retailer alert. The film (as previously reported) is slated for a 4K release later this month as part of “The Cornetto Trilogy“box set.
