Stallone’s 2008 sequel Rambo on 4K September

The 2008 sequel “Rambo” directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 3rd via Lionsgate. The film, also known as “Rambo IV”, co-starred Julie BenzMatthew Marsden, and Graham McTavish. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in a different aspect ratio on 4K than it was previously presented both theatrically and on the original Blu-ray release (which was 2.35:1). Speaking of which, this will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and a digital copy of the film included. There are no pre-order listings yet (functional anyway) over at Amazon or Best Buy but stay tuned for an update. The biggest addition here (aside from a change of aspect ratio) is the Extended Cut (99 minutes) of the film as well as the Theatrical Cut (91 minutes), also included. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

American Gods Season 2 Blu-ray September

The Starz original TV series American Gods: Season Two is coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 20th via Lionsgate. The show, based on the novel (of the same title) written by Neil Gaiman, in its second season features a cast of Ricky WhittleEmily BrowningCrispin Glover, Orlando Jones, Yetide Badaki, Pablo Schreiber, and Ian McShane.

UPDATE: The tech specs for the release include 1080p video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound, just as with the previous season of the show. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

2019 film “Long Shot” is coming to Blu-ray in July

The 2019 romantic comedy “Long Shot” starring Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron is coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 30th via Lionsgate, according to early alerts to retailers. The film, directed by Jonathan Levine, co-stars June Diane Raphael, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bob Odenkirk, Andy Serkis, and Alexander Skarsgård. This movie received much critical acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, it is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes – at time of writing.

Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update when the title gets officially announced by Lionsgate. It is known that the release will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray getting a DVD and a digital copy of the film. You can now find the Blu-ray for pre-order over at Best Buy. Meanwhile, Amazon also has the Blu-ray listed for pre-order. UPDATE: It appears no 4K UHD Blu-ray is coming out for this film, as the Best Buy listing has since been removed. Perhaps that was a misprint on their part. Once again, stay tuned for any updates regarding this release.

The 2019 Hellboy film starring David Harbour is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 23rd via Lionsgate. Oliver Stone film The Doors comes to 4K July 23rd

The 1991 Oliver Stone directed film The Doors starring Val Kilmer is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 23rd via Lionsgate, according to an early alert to retailers. The film co-starred Meg Ryan, Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Whaley, Kevin Dillon, Michael Wincott, and Michael Madsen. There are no details yet regarding the tech specs on this 4K release. It is however known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray and a digital copy of the film. Bonus materials set to be included on the release have not yet been detailed. UPDATE: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon and at retailer Best Buy. Tech specs for the release include 2160p video with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The film has been remastered from the original negative that was scanned at 4K resolution. The color grading was overseen by the film’s director Oliver Stone. Apocalypse Now comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray in August

The 1979 film Apocalypse Now is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 27th via Lionsgate in a “40th Anniversary Edition” with a Final Cut of the film. Not only will that version be included but there will also be the original theatrical cut and “Apocalypse Now Redux” Extended Cut – along with the Hearts of Darkness (96 minutes) documentary from 1991. The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starred Martin SheenMarlon BrandoRobert DuvallFrederic Forrest, Sam Bottoms, Laurence Fishburne, Albert Hall, Harrison Ford, Dennis Hopper, and Scott Glenn.

Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video, from a 4K restoration of the original negative, presented in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” and include three Blu-ray Discs along with a digital copy of the film. UPDATE: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at retailers Amazon and Best Buy. Stay tuned for an Amazon pre-order listing when it becomes available. Lionsgate has included what appear to be three screenshots in 1920 width (1080p) from this restoration as promotional material. You can watch the teaser trailer on YouTube (also in 1080p HD) if you’d like a better look at the quality but I’m going to include these for readers anyway.

Bonus materials set to be included on the release are very lengthy and span across a total of the 4K UHD Blu-ray disc and THREE Blu-ray Discs.
