The 1998 film The Faculty is coming to 4K in December

The 1998 film “The Faculty” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 17th via Scream Factory (Shout! Studios). The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez, starred Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Josh Hartnett, Salma Hayek, Famke Janssen, Piper Laurie, Usher, Robert Patrick, Jon Stewart, and Elijah Wood.

The movie has received a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, approved by director Robert Rodriguez. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 ratio with Dolby Vision HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo sound. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon and you can preorder directly via the Shout! Factory website where you’ll get a bonus poster. The 1989 film “Born on the Fourth of July” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 12th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). The film, directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, starred Tom Cruise, Kyra Sedgwick, Frank Whaley, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger, and Stephen Baldwin.

This release features a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, supervised and approved by director Oliver Stone. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon, online retailer GRUV, and directly via Shout! The 2016 film Hush is coming to 4K in November

The 2016 film “Hush” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 26th via Scream Factory. The film, co-written & directed by Mike Flanagan, starred John Gallagher Jr., Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, and Emma Graves. It’s worth noting that this film was originally seen on Netflix and happens to be “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

This release features a new 2024 4K restoration supervised and approved by Director Mike Flanagan. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is also available for preorder directly via Shout! Factory’s website. There are also two different exclusive versions available for preorder directly from Shout! Factory. One exclusive version includes an exclusive alternate slipcover and 2 posters and the other version has those autographed by the film’s director Mike Flanagan.

The 1920 film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari on 4K in October

The 1920 German silent film “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 22nd via Kino Classics. The film, directed by Robert Wiene, starred Conrad VeidtWerner KraussLil Dagover, and Freidrich Feher. The movie has received a 4K restoration as described below and features a new orchestral score.

“This authoritative edition presents the F. W. Murnau Stiftung’s meticulous 4K restoration of the film, with a new orchestral score by Emmy®-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards), which had its premiere performance at Carnegie Hall on June 3, 2024.”

Tech specs for the release include a Black & White tinted 2160p video presentation in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with choices of audio presentations in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. A Nightmare on Elm Street on 4K later this year

The modern classic 1984 horror film “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is said to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray later this year via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The release date will October 15th according to retailer listings. The film, written & directed by Wes Craven, starred Robert Englund, John Saxon, Johnny Depp, Heather Langenkamp, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, Charles Fleischer, Joseph Whipp, Joe Unger, and Lin Shaye.

The movie is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a big way with there to be a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured above on the left), a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured above in the middle), and in the United Kingdom there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray “40th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition” set (pictured above on the right). It is known that the film has received a new 4K restoration.

The tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, as the release still has not received an official announcement and release date, but you can expect that information later this year. The artwork tells us the SteelBook release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy included. The standard 4K release will have a digital copy.

You can already find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray listed at online retailers Amazon and DeepDiscount and retailer Target (mistakenly for the SteelBook), the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook listed at online retailers Amazon & GRUV and retailer Walmart. This comes from a new 4K restoration of its original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 Mono lossless sound. The release is a 2-disc “combo pack” with a (Region A) Blu-ray Disc included. This retailer version of the 4K UHD Blu-ray is available for preorder at Amazon. That includes the films “El Mariachi” (1992), “Desperado” (1995), and “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” (2003). Sadly, only the 1995 film “Desperado” will be presented in 4K resolution with the 1992 and 2003 films will only be receiving Blu-ray Disc treatment in 1080p HD video quality and uncompressed Stereo 2.0 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.
