The 1978 western/comedy “Goin’ South” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 27th via Vinegar Syndrome‘s sub-label Cinématographe. The film, directed by & starring Jack Nicholson, co-starred Mary Steenburgen, Christopher Lloyd, John Belushi, Veronica Cartwright, Richard Bradford, Danny DeVito, Ed Begley Jr., and Lin Shaye.

This comes from a new 4K restoration of its original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 Mono lossless sound. Sadly, only the 1995 film “Desperado” will be presented in 4K resolution with the 1992 and 2003 films will only be receiving Blu-ray Disc treatment in 1080p HD video quality and uncompressed Stereo 2.0 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.
