The Wizard of Oz is coming to 4K in October

The classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 29th via Warner. The film, directed by Victor Fleming, starred Judy GarlandFrank MorganRay Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret HamiltonUPDATE: The title has now been officially announced and received a press release. This is no longer a rumor. Also, the film is now available for pre-order on 4K UHD Blu-ray over at Amazon – with the same release date as indicated. Cover art (picture further above) has now been unveiled in that listing.

From the artwork and retailer listings, we know that the 4K release (in both forms) will come as a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and a digital code (copy) of the film included. The release will not only be coming out as a standard 4K but it will also be getting a 4K Steelbook which will be a Best Buy Exclusive (pictured below). You’ll find that 4K Steelbook now available for pre-order.

Annabelle Comes Home to Blu-ray in October

The 2019 horror film Annabelle Comes Home is officially getting a Blu-ray Disc release on October 8th via Warner. The film is part of “The Conjuring” universe and it was directed by Gary Dauberman. The cast here includes Vera FarmigaPatrick WilsonMckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, Katie Sarife, and Michael Cimino. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of “combo pack” with a DVD and digital code (copy) of the film included. The Blu-ray is now available to pre-order over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

The TV series Yellowstone: Season 2 is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 5th via Paramount. The show, as seen on Paramount Network, stars Kevin Costner, Luke GrimesKelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Danny Huston. Tech specs for the Blu-ray should be identical to the previous season, 1080p HD video in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio – although I’ve yet to confirm this. The release on Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

The 2018 TV series The Haunting of Hill House is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 15th via Paramount. The show (as seen on Netflix) in its first season, directed by Mike Flanagan, featured a cast of Oliver Jackson-CohenVictoria PedrettiMichiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, and Kate Siegel.

UPDATE: Tech specs for the release include 1080p video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound. The Blu-ray release is now available to pre-order over at Amazon. The season will be presented in an “Extended Director’s Cut” featuring never-before-seen content on three out of the ten episodes. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

2008 Stallone film Rambo on 4K September

The 2008 film Rambo (AKA “Rambo IV”) starring Sylvester Stallone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 3rd via Lionsgate. The film, also directed by Stallone, co-starred Julie BenzMatthew Marsden, and Graham McTavish. This 4K release will include the Extended Cut (99-minute) and the Theatrical Cut (91-minute) versions of the film – both on the 4K disc. Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio (unlike the Blu-ray) in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and digital code (copy) of the film also included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon. Wonder Woman Bloodlines on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 DC Universe Movie “Wonder Woman: Bloodlines” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 22nd via Warner. The film, directed by Justin Copeland and Sam Liu, features the voice talents of Rosario Dawson (as “Wonder Woman”), Marie AvgeropoulosJeffrey Donovan, Adrienne C. Moore, Kimberly Brooks, Courtenay Taylor, Constance Zimmer, and Michael Dorn. Tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray releases have not yet been fully detailed. You can, however, visually expect the 4K to come with HDR10 form of HDR (high dynamic range) and 1080p HD video on Blu-ray. Both should be in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and receive lossless surround sound mixes. Stay tuned for an update on the exact tech specs for the releases. The 1987 concert film/documentary Chuck Berry Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a “Collector’s Edition” on November 19th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). The film, directed by Taylor Hackford, was recorded in 1986 during a 60th birthday concert celebration for Rock music legend Chuck Berry, put together by his friend Keith Richards (of The Rolling Stones). The incredible line-up of musicians that took part in this concert included Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, and Julian Lennon – as well as his father John Lennon via archival footage. UPDATE: Tech specs for the release include 1080p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound.
