New 4K UHD Blu-ray Release for February 9th, 2021

“Baseball: A Film by Ken Burns” is coming to Blu-ray on June 8th April 13th via PBS direct. UPDATE: This release has been pushed back to June now, from its original April release date. The Emmy award-winning documentary mini-series, directed by Ken Burns, originally aired in 2004 on PBS and in 2010 the series received “The Tenth Inning” as a 2-part additional episode. According to all retailers, this Blu-ray set will include that additional episode, as it carries the very same runtime as the previous DVD release. This documentary mini-series has been “fully restored in high definition” as touted on the cover art (pictured above). The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD presentation, said to be in a widescreen aspect ratio, with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound on an 11-disc set. The bonus materials should be identical to those found on the previous DVD release, which included over 2 and a half hours of special features. No additional information is known about the high definition restoration at this time, as even PBS hasn’t listed it on their official store. You can however find the Blu-ray set now available for preorder over at Amazon as well as at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.

The film, both written & directed by Mel Brooks, starred Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, and Dick Shawn. The movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono sound on a BD-50 (dual-layered 50 gigabytes) disc. The film, from Warner Bros. Animation, directed by Jeff Wamester, features a voice cast of Stana Katic (Wonder Woman), Matt Bomer (The Flash), Matthew Mercer (Hourman), Chris Diamantopoulos (Steve Trevor), Omid Abtahi (Hawkman), Liam McIntyre (Aquaman), Geoffrey Arend (Charles Halstead/Advisor), Elysia Rotaru (Black Canary), and Armen Taylor (Jay Garrick). The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 4K presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The 2020 Pixar film “Soul” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 23rd via Disney according to Home Media Magazine. The film, directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers, features the voice talents of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House, Alice Braga, Richard Ayoade, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Questlove, and Angela Bassett. The tech specs for the release have yet to be detailed, but you should expect a 4K presentation with HDR10 and a Dolby Atmos sound mix. It is known that the releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K UHD Blu-ray will include its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will include its DVD counterpart, and each will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. No retailers have yet listed either the 4K UHD Blu-ray or the Blu-ray for preorder, but stay tuned for an update.

Amazon Commissions EarnedThe 1952 film “The Greatest Show on Earth” is coming to Blu-ray Disc, as spine #16, in the Paramount Presents line on March 30th — according to an early retail source. The Academy Award-winning film (for ‘Best Picture’), directed by Cecil B. DeMille, featured a cast of Charlton Heston, James Stewart, Betty Hutton, Gloria Grahame, Dorothy Lamour, and Cornel Wilde. The movie has received a new 4K scan and restoration, according to the back package art. The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD presentation in (likely the original) 1.37:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio Mono sound. The Blu-ray debut of this film will include a digital copy of the film. You can find the upcoming Blu-ray already listed for preorder over at Amazon. It’s worth noting that the studio (Paramount) has not yet officially made an announcement regarding this release and I’m going on what a retailer is rather elaborately indicating here.
