Amazon Commissions EarnedThe 1985 comedy “Real Genius“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 13th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Martha Coolidge, starred Val Kilmer, Gabe Jarrett, William Atherton, and Patti D’Arbanville.
The film has received a new scan from the original negative and sound mix, both reviewed and approved by director Martha Coolidge. That said, tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range in terms of video. In terms of audio, this release will include a new Dolby Atmos mix (approved by the director) as well as lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mixes. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will come with its Blu-ray counterpart and include a digital copy (code) of the film.

Amazon Commissions EarnedThe 2022 film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 26th, via Marvel Studios (Disney). The film, directed by Sam Raimi, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Rachel McAdams.
Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will include its Blu-ray counterpart and both will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.
UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. It’s certainly worth noting that there will also be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) available over at retailer Best Buy, which is now up for preorder.
UPDATES: It turns out that retailer Target will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Art Edition of the film (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.
And, as if that weren’t enough choices, there’s also going to be a retailer exclusive over at Walmart for a 4K UHD Blu-ray with Limited-Edition Enamel Pin (pictured below). That’s available for preorder as well.

The 1995 film “Heat“ will officially finally be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a “Director’s Definite Edition” on August 9th via Fox (Disney). The film, written & directed by Michael Mann, starred Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, Ashley Judd, Ted Levine, William Fichtner, and Natalie Portman.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included. It’s worth noting that there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release, which appears to be exclusive to retailer Best Buy (pictured below), now available for preorder.

Amazon Commissions EarnedThe 2019 film “Primal“ starring Nicolas Cage is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 26th, via Lionsgate, according to retailers. The film, directed by Nick Powell, co-starred Famke Janssen, Kevin Durand, LaMonica Garrett, and Michael Imperioli.
The tech specs for the release, although not yet official, should include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with [at least] HDR10 and the original 5.1 lossless surround sound originally found on the Blu-ray. Speaking of that original 2019 Blu-ray, you might want to hold onto it if you like the concept of a “combo pack” — meaning that this release will only include the 4K disc and a digital code (copy) of the film. No Blu-ray will be included with the release. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. The only bonus material possible to be included with the release [if ported over to the 4K from Blu-ray] would be “The Making of Primal.”

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as sound mixes in Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. This comes from a new “4K Scan From The Original Camera Negative” according to Shout! Factory.
