The 2000 film The Patriot gets a 4K SteelBook in June

A steelbook edition of the movie 'The Patriot', featuring artwork of characters and scenes from the film. Two DVDs are visible on the front, along with vibrant artwork on the steelbook covers that include patriotic themes and imagery.

The 2000 film “The Patriot” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on June 9th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

NOTE: This movie has previously been released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format, back in 2018. Regardless, this time around it features some things like multiple cuts of the movie and a Dolby Vision form of HDR for the first time.


Roland Emmerich directed the film. It starred Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs, Chris Cooper, and Tom Wilkinson. The movie was nominated for a total of 3 “Oscars” (Academy Awards).

This release will come as a 2-disc set with two 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. The first disc will contain the theatrical [165-minute] cut, and the second disc will contain the UNRATED [175-minute] version. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) form of high dynamic range. Audio will be presented in Dolby Atmos and lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound. This will be the first time that the unrated version of the film has been available in 4K and the first time either version of the movie has been available with 12bit Dolby Vision. The release will include a digital copy of the movie, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can’t find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available yet for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update. The bonus material set to be included with this release is listed below, sorted by disc.
