The 2000 film The Patriot gets a 4K SteelBook in June

A steelbook edition of the movie 'The Patriot', featuring artwork of characters and scenes from the film. Two DVDs are visible on the front, along with vibrant artwork on the steelbook covers that include patriotic themes and imagery.


Roland Emmerich directed the film. It starred Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs, Chris Cooper, and Tom Wilkinson. The movie was nominated for a total of 3 “Oscars” (Academy Awards).

This release will come as a 2-disc set with two 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. The first disc will contain the theatrical [165-minute] cut, and the second disc will contain the UNRATED [175-minute] version. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) form of high dynamic range. Audio will be presented in Dolby Atmos and lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. This will be the first time the unrated version of the film is available in 4K, and the first time either version is available with 12-bit Dolby Vision. The release will include a digital copy of the movie, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 2015 film Fury gets 4K SteelBook in July

The 2015 film “Fury” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on July 15th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. David Ayer wrote and directed the movie. It starred Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, and Scott Eastwood. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes. NOTE: This film was previously released on 4K UHD Blu-ray back in 2018. This version features Dolby Vision, whereas that version only had HDR10.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will include Dolby Atmos sound and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

Harry Potter Anniversary 8-Film Collection on 4K

The film Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone will get a 20th Anniversary 8-Film Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray box set on November 2nd via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The extravagant box set, being released to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the first (2001) film in the franchise, will be packaged in a replica of the “Hogwart’s Express” train (as pictured above). The 8 films in the franchise set to be included with the set are listed below.

  • “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004)

The tech specs for the releases should include the previous 2160p video presentations in the original aspect ratios with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X sound for each film. This set will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will also include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart in 1080p HD. All of this spanning across a 17-disc set. It’s unclear if a digital copy of each film will be included or not here, yet, but stay tuned for a possible update on that soon. “Scoob!” is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2020 animated film “Scoob!” appears to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 21st via Warner, according to multiple retailer listings. The film, based on “Scooby-Doo” and directed by Tony Cervone, features the voice talents of Will ForteMark WahlbergJason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Kiersey Clemons, Ken JeongTracy Morgan, and Frank Welker (as “Scooby-Doo”).

Tech specs and bonus materials for the releases have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update when the title gets officially announced by the studio [Warner]. It is known (from art) that the 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will get a Blu-ray included and each version, including Blu-ray, will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. “Hotel Mumbai” starring Dev Patel on Blu-ray in June

The 2019 film Hotel Mumbai starring Dev Patel is coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 18th via Universal. The film, based on a true story and directed by Anthony Maras, features a supporting cast of Armie HammerNazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher, and Jason Isaacs. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The Blu-ray is available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.
