The 2002 horror film “The Ring” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on October 15th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Gore Verbinski, starred Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson, David Dorfman, Brian Cox, and Jane Alexander. Previously released this year as part of “The Ring Collection” set on 4K UHD Blu-ray (by Scream Factory), this will be the first time the film has been available for individual purchase on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format.
Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The standard 4K and 4K SteelBook will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy included. The bonus materials for the release have yet to be announced.
UPDATE: You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray and the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) available for preorder at Amazon. There’s no preorder listing yet for the standard 4K release but stay tuned.
