1993 film “Cliffhanger” with Sylvester Stallone on 4K UHD Blu-ray in January

The 1993 film Cliffhanger starring Sylvester Stallone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 15th, 2019 via Sony. The film, directed by Renny Harlin, co-starred John LithgowMichael RookerJanine Turner, and Rex Linn. Tech specs for the release include 2160p 4K video, with HDR, in a new 4K restoration from the original negative and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc, and Digital Copy of the film included.

UPDATE: This title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. It’s just showing as a Blu-ray but the date matches up, and so does the price tag.

Nominated for three Academy Awards®*, the film finds Stallone as a former mountain rescuer persuaded to help save a group of stranded hikers. He discovers they are in fact a gang of ruthless criminals who have lost their $100 million stash during a plane crash in the Rocky Mountains. SYNOPSIS:
Sylvester Stallone, John Lithgow, Michael Rooker, Janine Turner and Ralph Waite star in this high-altitude avalanche of action: a nonstop adventure peaked with suspense and capped with heart-quaking terror. For Rocky Mountain Rescue, the mission is almost routine: locate five climbers. With the woman he loves (Turner) and his best friend (Rooker), Gabe Walker (Stallone) braves the icy peaks only to discover that the distress call is really a trap set by merciless international terrorist Eric Qualen (Lithgow). Now millions of dollars and their own lives hang in the balance. Against explosive firepower, bitter cold and dizzying heights, Walker must outwit Qualen in a deadly game of hide-and-seek.

Based on a premise by John Long, with a screen story by Michael France and a screenplay by Michael France and Sylvester Stallone, CLIFFHANGER is directed by Renny Harlin. The film was produced by Alan Marshall and Renny Harlin and executive produced by Mario Kassar.
