The Warriors gets standard 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 1979 film “The Warriors” will be getting standard edition releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 26th via Arrow Video. The film, directed by Walter Hill, starred Michael Beck, James Remar, Dorsey Wright, Brian Tyler, David Harris, Tom McKitterick, Marcelino Sánchez, Terry Michos, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Roger Hill, David Patrick Kelly, and Lynne Thigpen.

The film will be presented in its theatrical form, in a “new remaster from the original camera negative supervised by Arrow Films and approved by director Walter Hill.” The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range along with Dolby Atmos, uncompressed Mono, and lossless Stereo sound options.

The standard releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray can be found available for preorder now at Amazon. The bonus material set to be included with these releases and physical extra is listed below.

48 Hrs. and Another 48 Hrs. on 4K in December

The film “48 Hrs.” (1982) and its sequel “Another 48 Hrs.” (1990) are both coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 6th via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  “48 Hrs.” and “Another 48 Hrs.” were both directed by Walter Hill, and starred Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte.  Also, a “48 Hrs. 2-Movie Collection” (pictured above) with both films will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on the same day, December 6th.

These transfers for each film were approved by the director Walter Hill.  The tech specs for the releases include 2160p video presentations in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range.  It’s likely that both films will receive Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless sound mixes, although it has not been confirmed.  All of these releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart(s) included along with a digital copy (code) for each film.  Bonus materials for the films have not yet been detailed but should be identical to the previous Paramount Presents Blu-ray releases.

Another 48 Hrs. gets a Paramount Presents Blu-ray in July

The 1990 sequel “Another 48 Hrs.” starring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte is officially getting a new remastered Blu-ray Disc release from Paramount Presents on July 6th. This release will be spine #20 in the series. The film, directed by Walter Hill, co-starred Brion James, Kevin Tighe, Ed O’Ross, Andrew Divoff, Bernie Casey, Brent Jennings, and Tisha Campbell. This movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can very likely expect a 1080p HD presentation with lossless 5.1 surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy of the film. This is the very first time the film has been available on the Blu-ray format stateside.

This release will be spine #19 in the series. The film, directed by Walter Hill, co-starred Annette O’Toole, Frank McRae, James Remar, David Patrick Kelly, and Jonathan Banks. This movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can very likely expect a 1080p HD presentation with lossless 5.1 surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy of the film.

The 1986 film “Crossroads” starring Ralph Macchio is coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the very first time, on January 12th, 2021, via Mill Creek Entertainment. The film, directed by Walter Hill, co-starred Joe SenecaJami Gertz, Joe Morton, and Steve Vai. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed. You can find the Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon. The release will feature a retro VHS-style slipcover packaging, as pictured above.

Red Heat starring Schwarzenegger comes to 4K

1988 film Red Heat starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 29th via Lionsgate. The film, directed by Walter Hill, co-starred Jim BelushiPeter Boyle, Ed O’Ross, Laurence Fishburne, and Gina Gershon.  Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The release will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon.
