The 2002 film Minority Report on 4K in December

The 2002 film adaptation of “Minority Report” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on December 9th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. Steven Spielberg produced and directed this adaptation of a Philip K. Dick short story. It starred Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Max Von Sydow, Samantha Morton, Steve Harris, and Neal McDonough. It’s worth noting that this movie remains “Certified Fresh” (by critics’ ratings) on Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release(s) include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 4K releases will each include a digital copy of the film. This release will be a 2-disc set with a Bonus Blu-ray Disc. The movie is only presented on the 4K disc and not in HD on the Blu-ray.

The 2025 sequel “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on October 14th via Paramount. Christopher McQuarrie directed and co-wrote the film. It stars Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Henry Czerny. It’s certainly worth noting that this movie is rated both “Certified Fresh” based on reviews by critics and “Verified Hot” by audiences at Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in 2.39:1 and 1.90:1 shifting aspect ratios, including Dolby Vision and HDR10 with Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. NOTE: There will not be a standard Blu-ray release of this film on home video. If you want a Blu-ray, you’ll have to buy one of the two 4K 3-disc “combo packs” which include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart. A Blu-ray housing bonus materials will also be included. A digital copy of the film is also included with both of the 4K UHD Blu-ray releases.

The 1992 film “Far and Away” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 17th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). The film, directed and co-written by Ron Howard, starred Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, and Colm Meaney.
The movie has received a “4K transfer of the 35mm interpositive approved by cinematographer Mikael Salomon.” The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range with Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray counterpart included.

The 1989 film “Born on the Fourth of July” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 12th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). The film, directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, starred Tom Cruise, Kyra Sedgwick, Frank Whaley, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger, and Stephen Baldwin.
This release features a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, supervised and approved by director Oliver Stone. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon, online retailer GRUV, and directly via Shout! 1988 film Rain Man comes to 4K in February

The 1988 MGM film “Rain Man” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 21st, 2023 via MVD Marquee Collection [MVD Entertainment Group]. The film, winner of 4 Academy Awards (“Oscars”), was directed by Barry Levinson and starred Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, Jack Murdock, Michael D. Roberts, Gerald R. Molen, Valeria Golino, Bonnie Hunt, and Beth Grant.
The movie has received a “master created and provided by MGM was scanned in 4K from the original camera negative and was approved by director Barry Levinson,” according to the press materials. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio, apparently without any form of HDR (high dynamic range), with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. This release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include a Blu-ray Disc counterpart in 1080p HD from the same master, also with lossless 5.1 surround sound.

The 2022 sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 1st via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, stars Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Bashir Salahuddin, Charles Parnell, Monica Barbaro, Lewis Pullman, Jay Ellis, and Jon Hamm. It’s currently “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes and has set records at the box office. The film will be remaining in theaters for a short bit before its digital and then physical releases.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio (shifting to 1.78:1 aspect ratio for IMAX scenes) with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio (shifting to 1.78:1 aspect ratio for IMAX scenes) and Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases each include a digital code (copy) of the film. However, the 4K version will not include its Blu-ray counterpart. Keep that in mind. That’s how Paramount likes to do things.

The 2008 film “Tropic Thunder“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 13th via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by and starring Ben Stiller, co-starred Jack Black, Robert Donwey, Jr., Brandon T. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Nick Nolte, Bill Hader, Steve Coogan, and Tom Cruise.
The tech specs for the 2-disc release include Disc 1 with the Theatrical Cut of the film in 2160p 4K in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes, on a BD-100 disc. Disc 2 will include a 1080p HD presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio for the “Director’s Cut” of the film, on a BD-50 disc.
