“Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture 6-Movie Collection“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 6th via Paramount Home Entertainment — according to StarTrek.com‘s new story. This 15-disc box set will include the following films:
- “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” (1979) Theatrical & Director’s Cuts
- “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” (1982) Theatrical & Director’s Cuts
- “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock” (1984)
- “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” (1986)
- “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier” (1989)
- “Star Trek IV: The Undiscovered Country” (1991) Theatrical & Director’s Cuts
Each of these films will be now available individually on 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 6th as well, with the last two films making their debut on the format as well as “Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director’s Edition)” making its debut. You can find the 6-Movie Collection and all of the individual 4K releases available now for preorder over at Amazon via the titles above. The tech specs for each release include a 4K 2160p video presentation with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround with the exception of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director’s Edition)” which is in Dolby Atmos sound. The box set and individual releases will all come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that they get the Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) included.
The bonus materials set to be included on each release are rather lengthy and with that being said, I’ll be listing them after the break at the very bottom of this post.
It’s most certainly worth noting that “Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director’s Edition)” will be getting a box set release on 4K UHD Blu-ray, titled the “Complete Adventure“ (pictured below). It’s available now for preorder over at Amazon as well. This set will come in the form of a 3-disc set with an exclusive bonus disc that features a “Special Longer Version” of the first film.
Here are some specifics about the set, from StarTrek.com :
This Limited-Edition Collector’s Set includes all of the above, plus an additional 4K Ultra HD disc containing:
- The Theatrical Cut
- The first-ever widescreen presentation of the Special Longer Version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, originally created for broadcast television in 1983
The set is presented in deluxe packaging along with exclusive collectibles, including reproductions of original promotional material, a booklet with behind-the-scenes images, stickers, and more.
