Going Berserk with John Candy on Blu-ray in December

The 1983 comedy Going Berserk is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 14th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). This movie will be making its debut in North America on the Blu-ray format. The film, directed by David Steinberg, starred “SCTV” cast members John Candy, Joe Flaherty, and Eugene Levy. It co-starred Alley Mills, Pat Hingle, Kurtwood Smith, and Ernie Hudson.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and a lossless sound mix (not yet detailed). The Blu-ray is not yet available for preorder over at Amazon, but there’s a product page already up. Stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, you can already preorder the Blu-ray directly via the ShoutFactory.com website. The bonus materials for the release are “in progress and will be announced at a later date” according to Shout! Factory.

1991 comedy Nothing But Trouble on Blu-ray in October

The 1991 comedy Nothing But Trouble is coming to Blu-ray Disc (for the first time) on October 26th, via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). The film, directed and co-written by Dan Aykroyd, starred Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Demi Moore, Taylor Negron, and Bertila Damas.

City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold on Blu-ray May

The 1994 sequel “City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold” starring Billy Crystal is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the first time, on May 25th via Shout Factory‘s Shout Select line. The film, directed by Paul Weiland, co-starred Daniel Stern, Jon Lovitz, and Jack Palance. The tech specs for the release should include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed sound, likely in both 5.1 and 2.0 configurations. Stay tuned for if and when those tech specs get officially detailed regarding the sound. The Blu-ray can now be found available for preorder over at Amazon and also directly via Shout! Factory. The bonus materials for this release are currently in production and will be announced closer we come to the release date. So, again, stay tuned for an update regarding this release.

1988 film Twins makes Blu-ray debut in November

The 1988 comedy Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito will officially be making its Blu-ray Disc debut on November 17th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). As noted, this will be the first time that this film will be available on the format here in the United States. The film, directed by Ivan Reitman, co-starred Kelly Preston, Chloe Webb, and Bonnie Bartlett. No specific info yet regarding the tech specs or bonus materials on this release though, as they are in the process of being created. The full details about the release will be announced at a later date.

UPDATE: You can now find the film on Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. Also, Shout! Factory was kind enough to reveal to one of the site’s readers that this will be spine number 113 in the Shout Select series.

“Glengarry Glen Ross” gets Collector’s Edition Blu-ray

The 1992 film “Glengarry Glen Ross” directed by James Foley will officially be getting a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Disc release on June 2nd via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). The film starred Al PacinoJack LemmonAlec Baldwin, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey, and Jonathan Pryce. The tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update later this year. It’s known that a set of new bonus materials are being created by Shout! Factory for this upcoming release which will be announced at a later date. You cannot yet find this Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. However, you can now find the Blu-ray already available for preorder directly via Shout! Factory’s website.
