The 1986 film Pretty in Pink comes to 4K in February

The 1986 film “Pretty in Pink” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 11th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film was directed by Howard Deutch. It was written by John Hughes. The cast included Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy, Jon Cryer, Annie Potts, James Spader, and Harry Dean Stanton.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 with Dolby Vision and HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder at Amazon. The 2024 film Smile 2 is coming to 4K in January

The 2024 film “Smile 2” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on January 21st via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, written & directed by Parker Finn, stars Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, and Drew Barrymore. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Both 4K releases will be a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included as well as a digital copy. NOTE: It does not appear that a standard Blu-ray release will be released for this film.

The 1974 film Chinatown gets a standard 4K in January

The 1974 film Chinatown will get a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on January 14th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film was directed by Roman Polanski and starred Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, John Huston, Burt Young, Diane Ladd, and Perry Lopez.

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy. NOTE: This movie was previously released in the Paramount Presents line on 4K UHD Blu-ray but has since gone out of print. And, as a result goes for a high price resold on services like eBay. This new release will offer consumers a new and much more affordable release.

Transformers One comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2024 animated film “Transformers One” is officially slated for releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on December 17th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, produced by Michael Bay and directed by Josh Cooley, features the voice talents of Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray have not yet been fully detailed, but it is known that the 4K release will include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range. The Blu-ray will be presented in a 1080p HD video presentation in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Both releases will very likely include Dolby Atmos sound, however, that’s still yet to be fully confirmed. The 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart.

Each of the 4K and Blu-ray releases will include a digital copy. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook are now available for preorder at Amazon. However, there is not a preorder listing yet for the Blu-ray on Amazon. Also, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at retailer Walmart, again with no Blu-ray listing yet available, but stay tuned for an update.

“I Love Lucy: The Complete Series” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 5th via CBS Home Entertainment & Paramount Home Media Distribution. The set will include the entire six seasons of the TV series (1951-1957) as well as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” (1957-1960) Remastered. It also will include a newly colorized and never-before-released “Lucy and the Loving Cup” episode. I Love Lucy starred Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, William Frawley, and Richard Keith. Below you can find a glimpse at this massive 33-disc box set.

I Love Lucy: The Complete Series Blu-ray

The tech specs for this release include a Black & White 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.33:1 aspect ratio with Uncompressed LPCM 2.0 Mono sound, spanning 33 discs. You can now find the Blu-ray set available for preorder at Amazon. All of the contents and bonus materials for this release are listed below.

  • Newly colorized (and never-before-released) “Lucy and the Loving Cup” episode

According to retailers, the 1954 musical/comedy film “White Christmas” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 5th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, directed by Michael Curtiz, starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, Dean Jagger, Emma Allen, and Anne Whitfield. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be officially announced but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy. Planes, Trains & Automobiles getting 4K SteelBook

The 1987 film “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” will get an Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on November 12th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, written & directed by John Hughes, starred Steve Martin, John Candy, Edie McClurg, Michael McKean, Dylan Baker, and Laila Robins.

The movie back in 2022 received a 4K restoration and standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release. As previously mentioned, this 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook will be exclusive to retailer Amazon where you can find it now available for preorder. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-66 disc. This 4K SteelBook release also includes a bonus Blu-ray Disc dubbed the bonus “lost luggage” Blu-ray and a digital copy. That bonus disc features the following extras.
