Truth Be Told Series on Blu-ray in February

The AppleTV+ original “Truth Be Told: The Complete Series” will be released on Blu-ray Disc on February 25th. The distributor is Fifth Season. The show, which ran for three seasons (2019-2023) won several awards and got critical acclaim during its run. It starred Octavia Spencer in the lead role. The cast also included Mekhi Phifer, Ron Cephas Jones, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, and David Lyons in supporting roles. Each season had a special guest star. Aaron Paul appeared in season 1. Kate Hudson was featured in season 2. Gabrielle Union co-starred in season 3. This release is locked to Region A.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.10:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, spanning across an 8-disc set. It seems that no bonus materials will be included with this release. The Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon.

2013 film Snowpiercer on 4K SteelBook in January

The 2013 film “Snowpiercer” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on January 14th via Lionsgate. The film, directed by Bong Joon Ho, starred Chris Evans, Ed Harris, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Allison Pill, Ewen Bremner, and Ko Ah-sung. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come as a “combo pack.” Its Blu-ray counterpart will be included along with bonus Blu-ray disc and a digital copy of the film. The movie included on Blu-ray will only feature DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below in detail) available for preorder at Amazon.

The 2017 film The Shape of Water on 4K in November

The 2017 film “The Shape of Water” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 26th via The Criterion Collection. The Academy Award-winning 2018 Best Picture of the Year, directed & co-written by Guillermo del Toro, starred Sally Hawkins, Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Doug Jones. Aside from winning four Academy Awards, the film is still “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s most certainly worth noting that this film has already received a 4K UHD Blu-ray release back in 2018, yet this will feature a different visual presentation.

The movie has received a 4K digital master, supervised by director Guillermo del Toro. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Pixar film “Onward” comes to 4K and Blu-ray May

The 2020 Disney / Pixar film “Onward” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on May 19th, via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Dan Scanlon, features the voice talents of Tom HollandChris PrattJulia Louis-Dreyfus, Kyle Bornheimer, Mel Rodriguez, Lena Waithe, Ali Wong, Octavia Spencer, Tracey Ullman, Wilmer Valderrama, and George Psarras. The tech specs and bonus materials for the 4K and Blu-ray haven’t been officially announced yet, but, judging from the Disney+ and digital versions of the film, you can expect it to receive HDR10 on the 4K release and Dolby Atmos sound. It’s likely the Blu-ray will only get a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix, instead of Atmos sound, but we’ll see. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will come in the form of “combo pack” meaning that they’ll include their Blu-ray / DVD counterparts (accordingly) and each receives a digital code (copy) of the film. Stay tuned for updates on the official tech specs, bonus materials, and as to when these titles get listed over at Amazon. You can, however, now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray listed for preorder over at retailers Best Buy and Target. Also worth mentioning is the fact that each one of those retailers will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray release of the film. Best Buy will be getting a 4K SteelBook (pictured below) and Target will be getting a Limited Edition Gallery Book on 4K (also pictured below).

The 2020 film “Dolittle” starring Robert Downey, Jr. is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 7th, via Universal. The film, based on the story of “Dr. Dolittle” & directed by Stephen Gaghan, co-starred/featured the voice talents of Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, Tom Holland, Craig Robinson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, and Marion Cotillard. The tech specs for the 4K include video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The 2016 animated film Zootopia is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 5th via Disney, according to retailers. The Academy Award-winning film, co-directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore, & Jared Bush, featured the voice talents of Ginnifer GoodwinJason BatemanIdris Elba, Jenny Slate, Nate Torrence, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Tommy Chong, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Alan Tudyk, and Shakira. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc and a digital code (copy) of the film. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon. “Instant Family” with Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne is coming Blu-ray in March

The 2018 comedy Instant Family starring Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 5th, via Paramount. The film, directed by Sean Anders, co-stars Isabela Moner, Gustavo Quiroz, Julianna Gamiz, Tig Notaro, and Octavia Spencer. Tech specs for the Blu-ray have yet to be fully detailed, but it should be obvious that you can expect full 1080p video and 5.1 lossless sound. I’ll be updating this as soon as I learn what the tech specs are. The film on Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and Digital Copy of the film included.
