1997 Wes Craven film Scream 2 on 4K in October

Amazon Commissions Earned

The 1997 sequel “Scream 2” seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in standard (pictured above) and limited edition “25th anniversary” SteelBook forms on October 4th via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, directed by Wes Craven, starred Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Jerry O’Connell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Joshua Jackson, Timothy Olyphant, Liev Schreiber, Jada Pinkett Smith, Omar Epps, and Heather Graham.

As this title has not yet been officially announced, that I can tell, the tech specs for the 4K releases have not yet been detailed but you can for sure expect a 2160p video presentation with at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range and likely a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix.  The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray counterpart included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film.  The bonus materials should include all of the previous extras found on the Blu-ray and perhaps some new content, but no word on that yet.  Stay tuned for an update.  In the meantime, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) available for preorder over at Amazon.  The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray is available for preorder as well over at Amazon but it lacks artwork at the moment.

1996 film The Craft gets 4K Collector’s Edition in May

Amazon Commissions Earned

The 1996 film The Craft is officially getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray “Collector’s Edition” release on May 17th by Scream Factory (Shout! Factory).  The film, directed and co-written by Andrew Fleming, starred Fairuza Balk, Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Rachel True, Skeet Ulrich, Christine Taylor, and Breckin Meyer.

This comes from a new 4K restoration done by Sony.  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with presumably HDR10 form of high dynamic range and a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix, although not yet confirmed.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray Collector’s Edition available for preorder over at Amazon or directly via ShoutFactory.com where you’ll get an exclusive poster (while supplies last).

2022 Scream film comes to 4K and Blu-ray in April

Amazon Commissions Earned

The 2022 sequel “Scream” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 5th via Paramount Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Sonia Ammar, and Marley Shelton.

It’s most certainly worth noting that, at the time of publishing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.  I just wish they didn’t have to put a permanent logo on the cover art because of that.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed.  However, it is worth noting that the digital version of the film [in 4K] features Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and 5.1 surround sound.  So, it’s likely those will be the specs for the 4K release and perhaps the Blu-ray will get that 5.1 sound mix.  Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film.

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  There will be a Scream 2-Movie Collection available on 4K UHD Blu-ray with the first [1996] film and the most recent [2022] film and that is now available for preorder over at Amazon.

Retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook which is listed and has some temporary cover art at the moment.  Also, retailer Walmart will be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray bundle featuring a poster (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

The bonus materials set to be included with both releases are listed below.

  • Filmmaker Commentary—The directors, writers and filmmakers reveal the unwritten rules for surviving this genre-busting horror movie.
  • Bloodlines—Catch up with Scream stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette for a deep dive into their characters and why they came back for a fresh stab at their favorite horror franchise.
  • New Blood—Meet the new generation of Woodsboro victims and potential killers!
  • In the Shadow of the Master—The cast honor movie maestro Wes Craven and look back on his incredible legacy as the director who redefined horror.
  • Deleted Scenes—Look out! They’re back from the dead: see the scenes slashed from the movie.

Further below, after the break, you can find the trailer for the film and the full announcement about the home video releases.

The 1998 film “Wild Things” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a Limited Edition box set on May 24th via Arrow Video.  The film, directed by John McNaughton, starred Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell, Denise Richards, Theresa Russell, and Bill Murray.  The film has received a new 4K restoration of both the theatrical and UNRATED Edition versions, as noted below.  Hence, this release will include both versions in 4K.

“New 4K restorations of both the Original Theatrical Version and the Unrated Edition from the original camera negatives by Sony Pictures Entertainment”

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range along with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and uncompressed 2.0 Stereo sound mixes.  It’s worth noting that there will be a Blu-ray “Limited Edition” release also coming from Arrow Video and that it will include the same sound tech specs as mentioned above and be in 1080p HD video in the same aspect ratio.  Also, both the 4K and the Blu-ray releases are 1-disc sets.
