It’s also worth noting that retailer Best Buy is showing that they’ll be getting an ExclusiveSteelbook release of the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray, and that the release date is earlier: September 25th. I don’t know if this means that they’ll be getting the title a week early or that they’ve just not updated their PRE-ORDER listing for the Steelbook. Just realize the release date could actually be October 2nd, as it should be.
Further below, after the break, you can find the Blu-ray Disc artwork and the official announcement for this release.

The 2018 film “Uncle Drew” starring Kyrie Irving is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 25th via Lionsgate. The film, directed by Charles Stone III, co-stars Mike Epps, J.B. It’s also worth noting that Amazon carries a listing for a special version of the Blu-ray release with a Hat – pictured on the listing. The Blu-ray will include 1080p HD video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack”, with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both getting a Digital Copy of the film. The first three films in “The Fast and the Furious“ franchise are coming out INDIVIDUALLY to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Universal, it appears, according to early retail listings. This set of releases includes the following films:
Tech specs for the releases will include 2160p 4K video with the HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound. Bonus materials appear to be identical to those found on the previous Blu-ray Disc releases. I’ll be updating this news story more throughout the day with cover art and such. For now I just wanted to get this news out to our readers that don’t use (or follow us on) social media.
You can find the three films now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. So far only two films are lacking, the fourth and fifth films. Considering the cover art features numbering, those films should definitely be coming out sooner or later. You might even see a box set of the 4K titles as well, possibly later this year. Stay tuned for further updates.
Both of The Wachowskis‘ 2003 sequels “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions“ starring Keanu Reeves are coming INDIVIDUALLY to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Warner. This news comes in an early alert to retailers, namely Amazon. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, but you can likely expect them to be identical to the first film (already available on 4K). Still, stay tuned for official word on all that. The two films are both available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. Click on their titles or artwork above for links.
The Wachowskis‘ “The Matrix Trilogy” starring Keanu Reeves is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Warner. This news comes in an early alert to retailers. The box set will include the following films:
“The Matrix” (1999)
“Matrix Reloaded” (2003) – NEW to 4K!
“Matrix Revolutions” (2003) – NEW to 4K!
Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, but if the first film (already available on 4K) is any indication, I’d say you can expect the two sequels to get Dolby Vision, HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. This has not yet been announced (rather confirmed). As you’ll notice on the cover art it only states HDR, with no indication of Dolby Vision. However, Warner never indicates that on that part. Just worth pointing out. “The Matrix Trilogy“ on 4K UHD Blu-ray is available now for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon, but not yet at Best Buy. Lastly, be sure to check out our review of the first film, “The Matrix“ (as mentioned) already available on 4K. Stay tuned for official announcements regarding this box set.
UPDATE: These films will be released individually on 4K UHD Blu-ray in both standard and Steelbook packaging. Info about the standard individual releases can be found HERE, and information about the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbooks can be found HERE.
The 1981 Sam Raimi film “The Evil Dead“ starring Bruce Campbell is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 9th via Lionsgate. Tech specs for the release include full 2160p 4K video presented in both the 16×9 aspect ratio (1.85:1) and the original 4×3 aspect ratio (1.33:1) in both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range. The audio set to be included on the release is sadly just Dolby TrueHD 5.1 – the exact as offered up on the previous Blu-ray. A bit of a step in the wrong direction there, it would seem.
UPDATE: The release is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and Best Buy.
Bonus materials set to be included on the release appear to be identical to the previous Blu-ray release, in fact this will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy of the film included. In the meantime, you can check out our Blu-ray Screenshots from the original release, in both aspect ratios, and including DVD comparisons. Further info about the upcoming 4K release can be found below, after the break, from the official announcement.
OK, I had reported a rumor to you folks back in July discussing there was a listing for the 1998 Coen Brothers film “The Big Lebowski” coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray possibly later this year in the United States. That was because of a listing found over on the Italian Amazon for a gift set. That rumor has now turned into pretty much being a reality, minus the official announcement from the studio (Universal). We now can find two listings on the American Amazon website, that both appear to be the 4K release. The release date for this “20th Anniversary Edition” is slated for October 16th.
UPDATE: Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and DTS:X immersive sound.
It would appear the bonus materials will just be the original Blu-ray Disc contents, as listed on Amazon’s product description. Stay tuned for further updates, as new information comes to light. Below, after the break, you can find an image of the box set shown over on the Italian Amazon page.
