1994 film Speed gets both 4K standard and SteelBook in May

The 1994 film “Speed” will officially be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 4th via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The film, directed by Jan de Bont, starred Keanu ReevesDennis Hopper, and Sandra Bullock. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy of the film.

UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailers Best Buy and Target.

The bonus materials set to be included on the 4K release are listed further below, after the break, in the press release. There will also be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film available on May 4th as an exclusive over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below).

The New Mutants come to 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 2020 film “The New Mutants” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 17th, via Fox, according to an early retailer alert. The film, directed & co-written by Josh Boone, stars Maisie WilliamsAnya Taylor-JoyCharlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that. It is known that the 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. The Blu-ray will just include a digital code (copy) of the film. There’s no word yet on bonus materials set to be included on the release(s). Also, there’s no preorder listings yet for either the 4K or Blu-ray versions over at Amazon yet — but stay tuned. In the meantime, however, you can already find the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy. They also will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below), also available for preorder now.

“Home Alone” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray September

The 1990 film Home Alone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 15th, via Fox, in the 30th Anniversary Edition — according to multiple retailers. The film, which was directed by Chris Columbus & written by the late John Hughes, starred Macaulay CulkinJoe PesciDaniel Stern, John Heard, Catherine O’Hara, Roberts Blossom, and John Candy. The tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that once the studio [Fox] does an official announcement. The art (pictured above) tells us the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its original Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included. That said, you can bet on getting all of the previous bonus materials from the original 2008 Blu-ray release. There’s no preorder listing for this 4K UHD Blu-ray yet over at Amazon but you can find it already listed over at retailer Best Buy, retailer Target, and online retailer Deep Discount. Finally, it’s certainly worth noting that there will be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook for the film available over at retailer Best Buy. Sadly, the cover art for that hasn’t yet been unveiled.

The 2020 film Underwater starring Kristen Stewart is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 14th, via Fox. The film, directed by William Eubank, co-stars Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., Mamoudou Athie, and T.J. Miller. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. You cannot yet find the title available for preorder over at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. However, the Blu-ray is already listed for preorder over at retailer Best Buy. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

At the time of writing, this carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the 4K include video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The technical specs for the Blu-ray include video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and each getting a digital code (copy) of the film included. Terrence Malick’s “A Hidden Life” Blu-ray March

The 2019 Terrence Malick film “A Hidden Life” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 17th, via Fox. The film features a cast of August DiehlValerie PachnerMaria Simon, Tobias Moretti, Ulrich Matthes, Bruno Ganz, and Matthias Schoenaerts. The film has received positive reviews from critics during its limited theatrical run and as a result, at the time of writing, this is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. Right now, there’s no preorder listing yet for the Blu-ray over at Amazon or really anywhere but stay tuned for an update. The release doesn’t seem to include any bonus materials. Daniel Craig Bond Films get 4K SteelBooks March

As I had previously reported this earlier week, the first four of the “James Bond” / “007” films featuring Daniel Craig are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray as individual releases on February 25th. However, it now also seems that they will be getting individual 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook releases (pictured above) as exclusives over at retailer Best Buy on March 17th, three weeks later – on St. Patrick’s Day. The tech specs for the 4K releases include video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound – with the exception of the last film (“Spectre”) which is in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. All of the releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with each getting the Blu-ray counterpart and bonus discs (if available) and a digital code (copy) of each film. You can now find the four movies Casino RoyaleQuantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBooks exclusively available for preorder over at Best Buy.

Quantum of Solace and Spectre both are not yet available over at Amazon but stay tuned for an update on that. The film has received much critical acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, at the time of writing this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come as a “combo pack” with it getting the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both the 4K and Blu-ray will include a digital code (copy of the film).
