The 1996 film Kingpin is coming to 4K this May

The 1996 film “Kingpin” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 27th via KL Studio Classics. Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly directed the comedy. It starred Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray, Randy Quaid, Vanessa Angel, and Chris Elliott.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo, on a BD-100 disc. This 2-disc set will come as a “combo pack, ” including its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. That Blu-ray will include both the Theatrical Cut and the Extended Cut of the film. The 4K disc will feature only the Theatrical Cut.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is available for preorder at Amazon or you can preorder directly via Kino Lorber’s website. The bonus materials included are listed below.

1989 James Cameron Film The Abyss on 4K in March

The 1989 film “The Abyss” is finally officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 12th via 20th Studios Home Entertainment (Disney). The film was written & directed by James Cameron and starred Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Michael Biehn, Leo Burmester, Todd Graff, John Bedford Lloyd, J.C. Quinn, Kimberly Scott, Captain Kidd Brewer Jr., Christopher Murphy, Adam Nelson, and Chris Elliott. NOTE: This film has not been available on home video since DVD, as it never even received a Blu-ray Disc release.

The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release itself will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart of the film (for both versions) included along with a digital code (copy) of the film. 1994 comedy “Cabin Boy” starring Chris Elliott comes to Blu-ray in September

The 1994 Adam Resnick directed comedy “Cabin Boy” to Blu-ray Disc on September 18th via Kino Lorber in a ‘Special Edition.’ The film’s tech specs have not yet been detailed, and there is not a pre-order yet available over at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update.
