Alien: Romulus comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2024 film “Alien: Romulus” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on December 3rd via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The film, directed & co-written by Fede Alvarez, stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela MercedSpike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will include a digital copy. UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below), or the Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Also, the 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray are available for preorder at retailer Walmart.

HBO series Mare of Easttown on Blu-ray in September

The HBO original limited series “Mare of Easttown” starring Kate Winslet is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 14th via Warner Archive. The series, created by Brad Ingelsby, co-stars Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice, John Douglas Thompson, Joe Tippett, Cailee Spaeny, Evan Peters, David Denman, and Guy Pearce. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with 5.1 surround sound (likely in DTS-HD Master Audio, although yet to be confirmed). You cannot yet find the Blu-ray available for preorder via Amazon or any other retailers, but stay tuned for an update. The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

Blumhouse film The Craft Legacy on Blu-ray in December

The 2020 Blumhouse film “The Craft: Legacy” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 22nd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, a sequel to “The Craft” from 1996, was written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones and produced by Jason Blum. The cast includes Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, Zoey Luna, Michelle Monaghan, and David Duchovny. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The Blu-ray is now listed to preorder over at Amazon. Biopic “On the Basis of Sex” starring Felicity Jones comes to Blu-ray in March

The 2018 biographical drama On the Basis of Sex starring Felicity Jones is coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 26th, via Universal – according to an early alert to a retailer. This movie is based on the real-life story of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This was directed by Mimi Leder and features a supporting cast that includes Armie HammerJustin Theroux, Sam WaterstonKathy Bates, Cailee Spaeny, and Stephen Root.

Tech specs and bonus materials for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed. The title still has yet to be officially announced by the studio (Universal) for home video release, so stay tuned for confirmation and further details. It is also known that the release will include a Digital Copy of the film. You can find the Blu-ray available to pre-order now over at Amazon,  Best Buy (where the release date is shown), and Walmart.

“Bad Times at the El Royale” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in January

The 2018 film “Bad Times at the El Royale” starring Jeff Bridges is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 1st, 2019 via Fox. The film, written & directed by Drew Goddard, co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman, and Chris Hemsworth.

Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Each release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both getting a Digital Copy of the film included.
