Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange on 4K in September

According to retailer listings, the 1971 film A Clockwork Orange is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 21st, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The title has yet to be officially announced by the studio (Warner) but stay tuned for an update on that. The film, written, produced, and directed by Stanley Kubrick, starred Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Warren Clarke, James MarcusJohn Clive, Adrienne Corri, Michael Tarn, David Prowse, Sheila Raynor, and Philip Stone.

The tech specs for the release include a 4K 2160p video presentation in the 1.66:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray standard release available for preorder over at Amazon but there is a placeholder page. Also, it is now available to preorder over at retailer Best Buy. It’s most certainly worth noting that there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available as an exclusive over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below), which is available now for preorder.

The Shawshank Redemption comes to 4K in September

The 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 14th, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, based on the Stephen King short story and directed by Frank Darabont, starred Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton, William Sadler, Clancy Brown, Gil Bellows, Mark Rolston, James Whitmore, and Jeffrey DeMunn.

Tech specs for the release include a 2160p 4K video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart as well as come with a digital code (copy) of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon and retailer Best Buy. Speaking of retailer Best Buy, they will be having an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available (pictured below) which should be available for preorder soon, but already has a placeholder page.

1958 Alfred Hitchcock film Vertigo on 4K in September

According to multiple retailer listings, the 1958 film Vertigo directed by Alfred Hitchcock is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray individually on September 7th, via Universal. The film starred James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore, Henry Jones, Raymond Bailey, Ellen Corby, and Konstantin Shayne.

NOTE: This film had previously been released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format in a box set, The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection from 2020.

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X immersive sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart as well as a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the standard individual 4K UHD Blu-ray of the film available for preorder over at Amazon. There will also be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of this film available as an exclusive over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below) which is not yet functional as a preorder. Mortal Kombat Legends Battle of the Realms 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 Warner Bros. Animation original film “Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 31st, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, based on the popular video game franchise (“Mortal Kombat”), was directed by Ethan Spaulding. This film also is the sequel to Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge from 2020 and will feature some of the same voice cast. The full voice cast here includes Joel McHale, Jennifer Carpenter, Jordan Rodrigues, Patrick Seitz, Artt Butler, Robin Atkin Downes, Dave B. Mitchell, Ikè Amadi, Grey Griffin, Fred TatascioreMatthew Mercer, Bayardo De Murguia, Matt Yang King, Paul Nakauchi, Emily O’Brien, and Debra Wilson.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray will both come with a digital code (copy of the film). Spiral comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in July

2021 film “Spiral” starring Chris Rock is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 20th, via Lionsgate, according to multiple retailers. The film, the latest in the from the book of “SAW” franchise, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, co-stars Samuel L. JacksonMax Minghella, and Marisol Nichols. The tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed yet, aside from both getting Dolby Atmos sound, for the 4K and Blu-ray releases but stay tuned for an update. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will come with a DVD, and both will include a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available to preorder over at Amazon.

It’s also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which you can now find available for preorder over there.

1986 film Howard the Duck on 4K UHD Blu-ray in July

According to retailers, the 1986 film adaptation of “Howard the Duck” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 6th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. It was based on a Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film was executive produced by George Lucas, directed by Willard Huyck, and it starred Lea Thompson, Tim Robbins, Jeffrey Jones, Paul Guilfoyle, as well as featured the voice talent of Chip Zien (as “Howard T. Duck”). The tech specs for the 4K release have not yet at all been detailed, but you should expect it to include at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range and 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release appears (based on the art, above) to be coming in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. No word yet on what bonus materials will be featured with the release.

UPDATE #1: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed for preorder over at Amazon as well as over retailer Target as well as at online retailer HD Movie Source. That’s where the release date, aside from some rumors online that now seem to be verified, comes from. The 1971 film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 29th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, a screen adaptation that was written by the very same author of the book (Roald Dahl), was directed by Mel Stuart. It starred Gene WilderJack AlbertsonPeter OstrumJulie Dawn Cole, Roy Kinnear, Denise Nickerson, Leonard Stone, Paris Themmen, Nora Denney, Michael Bollner, Ursula Reit, Diana Sowle, and Günter Meisner. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that you’ll get the Blu-ray Disc counterpart in addition to a digital code (copy) of the film. It is most certainly worth noting that this 1971 children’s film is still, at the time of writing this with a 90% rating, “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: This title was officially announced today by Warner. There’s a placeholder page now over at Amazon for the 4K UHD Blu-ray, but it’s not yet a functional preorder listing. 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong on 4K and Blu-ray in June

The 2021 film “Godzilla vs. Kong” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on June 15th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. This latest in the “MonsterVerse” was directed by Adam Wingard. Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgård, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby BrownRebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, and Demián Bichir. It’s worth noting, at the time of writing this, the film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range as well as Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Each release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will come with its DVD counterpart, and each will include a digital code (copy) of the film.
