The 1997 film Mimic is coming to 4K in January

The 1997 film “Mimic” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 13th, 2026, via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber]. Guillermo del Toro co-wrote and directed the motion picture. It starred Mira Sorvino, Jeremy Northam, Josh Brolin, Giancarlo Giannini, F. Murray Abraham, and Charles S. Dutton.

The release will include both the theatrical and director’s cuts of the movie, each in 4K on its own individual 4K disc. Both have received a 4K restoration, approved by Guillermo del Toro. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray [Discs] include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), each on a BD-100 disc. The audio configuration(s) include lossless DTS-HD Master Audio in 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo. The 3-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc counterpart [featuring both cuts] included.

The 1972 film The Mechanic comes to 4K in January

The 1972 film “The Mechanic” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 13th, 2026, via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber]. Michael Winner directed the movie, which starred Charles Bronson. It co-starred Jan-Michael Vincent, Keenan Wynn, Jill Ireland, Frank DeKova, Linda Ridgeway, Celeste Yarnal, and Enzo Fiermonte.

The movie has received a new 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. Technical specifications for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), on a BD-100 disc. The audio presentation has not yet been detailed, but should come in a lossless format, such as DTS-HD Master Audio. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

The 1995 film “Babe” and its 1998 sequel “Babe: Pig in the City” are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray [individually] on December 16th via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber]. “Babe” (1995) was directed by Chris Noonan and produced and co-written by George Miller. The 1998 sequel [“Babe: Pig in the City”] was directed, produced, and co-written by George Miller. Actor James Cromwell co-starred in both films. The first motion picture was nominated for 7 Academy Awards (“Oscars”), and ended up winning for “Best Effects, Visual Effects.”

Both movies have received new 4K scans from the 35mm original camera negative(s). The tech specs [for each film] on 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), and lossless 5.1 and 2.0 stereo sound, all on a BD-100 disc [for each]. The Americas on 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 2025 nature documentary / limited series “The Americas” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on November 18th, courtesy of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Tom Hanks narrated the mini-series. It was seen on NBC and streaming on Peacock. It was nominated for 2 Primetime Emmys.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, spanning across a 2-disc set. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound, on a 2-disc set.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The Blu-ray, however, is not yet available at Amazon to preorder, so stay tuned for an update. American Psycho gets 25th Anniversary Edition 4K

The 2000 film “American Psycho“ will get a 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray release on December 9th exclusively via Lionsgate Limited. Mary Harron directed the motion picture adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel (of the same title). The movie starred Christian Bale, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, Chloë Sevigny, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Bill Sage, Samantha Mathis, Matt Ross, and Willem Dafoe.

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will be the UNRATED Uncut Version (102 minutes), not the theatrical R-rated version.

The release will include some very imaginative packaging with a certain twist for those who are fans of the Huey Lewis and the News album “Sports.” The 4K disc will come packaged inside a CD jewel case along with some business cards to die for, as well as replica credit and Blockbuster membership cards (as seen below).

The 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available exclusively for preorder via the Lionsgate Limited website. It’s also worth noting that a VHS “Be Kind, Rewind” edition of the film will also be available in December via Lionsgate Limited as an exclusive. The bonus materials set to be included on this new 4K set are listed below.

The 2005 film Jarhead comes to 4K in December

The 2005 film “Jarhead” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on December 16th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Sam Mendes directed this motion picture. It starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, Lucas Black, and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K releases will each come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, as well as a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 1992 film “Howards End“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 18th, courtesy of Cohen Film Collection, distributed by Kino Lorber. James Ivory directed the movie. It starred Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Redgrave, and Helena Bonham Carter. The motion picture won a total of three Academy Awards (“Oscars”), including Best Actress in a Leading Role (Emma Thompson).

It has received a new 4K restoration from the original negative, overseen and approved by director James Ivory and cinematographer Tony Pierce-Roberts. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-100 disc.
