Bond Daniel Craig 5-Film Collection on 4K in March

Amazon Commission Earned

There will be a James Bond: The Daniel Craig 5-Film Collection coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 1st via MGM, according to multiple retailers.  The set will include all five films in which actor Daniel Craig portrayed the character “James Bond” (aka “007”).  Those films consist of the following, in chronological order and detailed (how they appear here) below.

  • “Casino Royale” (2006) with Theatrical and Extended UNRATED versions
  • “Quantum of Solace” (2008)
  • “Skyfall” (2012)
  • “Spectre” (2015)
  • “No Time to Die” (2021)

The tech specs for the five films included here are as follows.  All five films appear to be receiving 2160p video presentations in their 2.39:1 aspect ratios with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range.  This will be new for the first four films in the set since they have previously been released on the format without the latter HDR formats.  In terms of sound.  First off, “Casino Royale”, “Quantum of Solace”, and “Skyfall” will all three be presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  Next, the fourth film “Spectre” will be presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound and the final film “No Time To Die” will be presented in Dolby Atmos sound.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterparts and likely the bonus discs in that format for each film.  There also will be digital codes (copies) of the five films included.

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon as well as at retailers Target and Walmart.  The bonus materials should be identical to those found on the previous 4K releases of each film.  Stay tuned for a full list when the set gets officially announced by MGM via whichever studio will be distributing it.  Speaking of which, the only logo on the back artwork is SDS (Studio Distribution Services) which is a joint venture between Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  So, that’s likely one of the two studios that will be serving as the distributor(s).

No Time to Die comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

Amazon Commissions Earned

The 2021 James Bond film “No Time to Die” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 21st via MGM (distributed by Universal Studios Home Entertainment). The film, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, starred Daniel Craig (in his final role as “Bond”), Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, and Christoph Waltz. It is most certainly worth noting that this is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will include its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will include its DVD counterpart, and both will come with a digital code (copy) of the film — compatible with Movies Anywhere. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both available for preorder over at Amazon.

Retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

The bonus materials set to be included with the releases are listed below.

  • A GLOBAL JOURNEY – Exotic locations are synonymous with all Bond movies and No Time To Die is no different. The first “007” (“James Bond”) films featuring Daniel Craig will all four be getting individual 4K UHD Blu-ray releases on February 25th, via MGM (Fox), according to early retailer listings. These four films have been previously released in 4K on the format, as “The Daniel Craig Collection” box set. Tech specs for the releases include video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound – with the exception of the last film (“Spectre”) which is in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. 007 The Daniel Craig Collection on 4K October

007_the_daniel_craig_collection_4k

A 007: The Daniel Craig Collection box set is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 22nd via MGM, according to an early retailer alert. The set contains FOUR of the “007” films that starred Daniel Craig (so far). It’s a bit unclear why they’re choosing to reuse the title again, the same as the Blu-ray set (released earlier this year) when another film has been announced and is coming in 2020? Oh well, “hindsight is 20/20” or perhaps 2020 in this case. However, I digress.

This set does include the following films: “Casino Royale” (2006) directed by Martin Campbell, “Quantum of Solace” (2008) directed by Marc Forster, “Skyfall” (2012) and “Spectre” (2015) directed by Sam Mendes. These films co-starred Judi Dench, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Jeffrey Wright, Giancarlo Giannini, Caterina Murino, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Gemma ArtertonJavier Bardem, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert FinneyChristoph WaltzLéa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Dave Bautista. I know that was rather lengthy but well, someone had to give credit to all of these actors and refresh your memory a bit as well.

The release will come as an 8-Disc set “combo pack” with Blu-ray Discs included for each film (likely to also house the original bonus materials) as well as digital code (copy) of each film. Speaking of which, so far there has not been an official announcement (sent to me) regarding this and as a result, we have no info regarding tech specs or if any new extras will be included on this [doubtful]. Stay tuned though, as I will keep this post updated. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon. Lastly, the release is said to include an “Extended UNRATED” version of the first film featuring Craig (Casino Royale). This has never been featured on the Blu-ray and seems to perhaps be a 4K exclusive? We shall see. Again, stay tuned.
