Borderlands comes to 4K and Blu-ray in October

According to retailers, the 2024 film “Borderlands” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 22nd via Lionsgate. The film, based on the 2K video game of the same title, directed and co-written by Eli Roth, stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. All of the releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each including a digital copy. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are available for preorder at Amazon. There will also be 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBooks available (pictured below) exclusively at Amazon and retailer Walmart. The 1989 film “Born on the Fourth of July” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 12th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). The film, directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, starred Tom Cruise, Kyra Sedgwick, Frank Whaley, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger, and Stephen Baldwin.

This release features a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, supervised and approved by director Oliver Stone. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon, online retailer GRUV, and directly via Shout! According to retailers, the 1954 musical/comedy film “White Christmas” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 5th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, directed by Michael Curtiz, starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, Dean Jagger, Emma Allen, and Anne Whitfield. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be officially announced but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy. The 1993 film “Dragon: The Story of Bruce Lee” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 26th via Shout! Studios. The film was directed by Rob Cohen and starred Jason Scott Lee, Lauren Holly, and Robert Wagner.

This comes from a new 4K transfer from the original 35mm camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range with sound format and configuration TBA (to be announced). The 2016 film “Hush” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 26th via Scream Factory. The film, co-written & directed by Mike Flanagan, starred John Gallagher Jr., Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, and Emma Graves. It’s worth noting that this film was originally seen on Netflix and happens to be “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

This release features a new 2024 4K restoration supervised and approved by Director Mike Flanagan. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes.
