It has received a new 4K restoration from the original negative, overseen and approved by director James Ivory and cinematographer Tony Pierce-Roberts. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-100 disc. This will come as a 2-disc set “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder on Amazon, as well as directly through Kino Lorber’s shop. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below (sorted by disc).

Freakier Friday comes to Blu-ray in November

The tech specs for the Blu-ray Disc release include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. The Dolby Atmos mix appears to be reserved for digital release only at present, as no 4K release is planned; more on that later. The Blu-ray release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its DVD counterpart included, along with a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

UPDATED: You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon, but not Walmart, so stay tuned for an update on that soon when the situation changes.

The motion picture has received a new 4K Scan from the original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), accompanied by Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono and English (dubbed) DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono sound mixes. The English dub will feature optional English subtitles, newly translated for this release. This 3-disc set will be a “combo pack” including a Blu-ray with the HD counterpart as well as a second Blu-ray for bonus materials.
