The Monster Collection box set comes to Blu-ray in July

“The Monster Collection” (Collector’s Edition) will officially be coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 13th via Doppelgänger Releasing, a genre label of Music Box Films. This 3-Disc box set includes two documentaries: “The Frankenstein Complex” (2015) and “Phil Tippett: Mad Dreams and Monsters” (2019). Both documentaries were directed by Gilles Penso and Alexandre Poncet. If you’re a fan of horror, fantasy, and science fiction films you’ll definitely be interested in these documentaries that take a look at the design of famous creatures and characters from motion pictures. These documentaries feature some excellent interviews with famous special effects artists and directors such as Rick Baker, Guillermo del Toro, Joe Dante, Mick Garris, John Landis, Greg Nicotero, Kevin Smith, Chris Wallas, Phil Tippett, Dennis Muren, Tom Woodruff Jr., Matt Winston, and Paul Verhoeven. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed.

The sequel to the 2009 film, based on the popular Hasbro action figure franchise, directed by Jon M. UPDATE: The 2020 film “The Father” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on May 18th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film won two Academy Awards (including ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ and ‘Best Actor’) out of the 6 “Oscars” total that it was nominated for last night. The Father was directed by Florian Zeller and stars Anthony HopkinsOlivia ColmanMark Gatiss, Olivia Williams, Imogen Poots, and Rufus Sewell. The film, at the time of writing, is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The 1990 sequel “Another 48 Hrs.” starring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte is officially getting a new remastered Blu-ray Disc release from Paramount Presents on July 6th. This release will be spine #20 in the series. The film, directed by Walter Hill, co-starred Brion James, Kevin Tighe, Ed O’Ross, Andrew Divoff, Bernie Casey, Brent Jennings, and Tisha Campbell. This movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can very likely expect a 1080p HD presentation with lossless 5.1 surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy of the film. This is the very first time the film has been available on the Blu-ray format stateside.
