According to multiple retailers, the 1993 film “Carlito’s Way” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 12th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Brian De Palma, starred Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Leguizamo, Ingrid Rogers, Luis Guzmán, and Viggo Mortensen.

There will be a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release (pictured above) available everywhere and an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook over at the retailer Best Buy (pictured below).

You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon and the 4K SteelBook available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range and DTS:X immersive lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a 2-disc “combo pack” meaning that the Blu-ray Disc counterpart will be included, along with a digital code (copy) of the film. The 1993 Hughes brothers film “Menace II Society” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 23rd via The Criterion Collection. The film, directed by Albert Hughes & Allen Hughes, starred Tyrin Turner, Larenz Tate, Samuel L. The 1991 live-action film adaptation of The Addams Family is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 23rd via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, starred Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Hedaya, Elizabeth Wilson, Judith Malina, Carel Struycken, and John Franklin. The film is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

This will make one of the first 4K physical releases by Criterion, as they have just unveiled recently. The film, co-written, produced, and directed by Orson Welles, also starred Orson Welles, as well as Joseph Cotten, Dorothy Comingore, Agnes Moorehead, Ruth Warrick, Ray Collins, Erskine Sanford, and Everett Sloane.

Superman The Animated Series on Blu-ray in October

“Superman: The Animated Series” will finally be officially coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the very first time, on October 26th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The release will come as Superman: The Complete Animated Series (Collector’s Edition) on Blu-ray. The animated TV series ran from 1996 through 2000 and featured the voices of Tim Daly (as “Superman” / “Clark Kent”), Dana Delany (as “Lois Lane”), David Kaufman (as “Jimmy Olsen”), and Clancy Brown (as “Lex Luthor”).

The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.33:1 aspect ratio and a lossless sound mix, presumably in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo, spanning across a 6-disc set. They’ve actually gone to some really great lengths to remaster the show, as you can read below.

“All 54 episodes have been remastered from the original 35mm Interpositive sources, giving special attention to extensive color correction, dirt and scratch clean up, and adding a grain reduction pass to create a pristine picture, all while making sure not to affect the original lines in the artwork of the animation. The audio was retransferred from the original audio masters, and the series is presented in its original aspect ratio (4×3).”
