American Underdog on 4K and Blu-ray in February

The 2021 film “American Underdog” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on February 22nd via Lionsgate.  The biographical sports drama, based on the life of NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, was directed by Andrew Erwin & Jon Erwin and stars Zachary Levi, Anna Paquin, Dennis Quaid, Bruce McGill, and Adam Baldwin.

The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray release have not yet been fully detailed but stay tuned for an update.  There’s also no word yet regarding the bonus materials set to be included with the releases either.  It is known that both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart and each receiving a digital code (copy) of the film.

The Mauritanian with Jodie Foster on Blu-ray in May

The 2021 film “The Mauritanian” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on May 11th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, based on the book (originally published as “Guantánamo Diary”) was directed by Kevin Macdonald, stars Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Zachary Levi, Saamer Usmani, Shailene Woodley, and Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s certainly worth noting that actress Jodie Foster won a Golden Globe award for her performance in the film. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound on a BD-50 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its DVD counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the Blu-ray available to preorder over at Amazon. Disney animated film Tangled on 4K November

The 2010 Disney animated film “Tangled“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 5th via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Nathan Greno & Byron Howard, featured the voice talents of  Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy, Ron Perlman, M.C. Gainey, Jeffrey Tambor, and Brad Garrett. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon. It’s worth noting that the release will also be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook release exclusive to retailer Best Buy (pictured below).

DC film Shazam! is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2019 DC film “Shazam!” starring Zachary Levi is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray format, Blu-ray Disc, and Blu-ray 3D formats on July 16th via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, based on the DC comics character and directed by David F. Sandberg, co-starred Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Djimon Hounsou, and Meagan Good. The film has received much critic-acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, it is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release(s) include 1080p video and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround. All three releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray will be getting a DVD, the Blu-ray 3D will be getting standard 2D Blu-ray, and a digital copy of the film will be included on each. NOTE: The Blu-ray 3D release is listed to be coming stateside directly over at Warner’s WBShop and in the UK over at retailer Zavvi. There’s no word yet if it will be coming to other retailers stateside, as it doesn’t have a listing over at Amazon or at any other retailers.

“Heroes Reborn: Event Series” is finally coming to Blu-ray Disc in late October

The 2015 TV mini-series “Heroes Reborn” is finally getting a Blu-ray Disc release in the form of “Heroes Reborn: Event Series“ on October 23rd via Universal. The 13 episode series was created by Tim Kring, responsible for the original TV series “Heroes” that originally aired on NBC and ran for a total of four seasons (2006-2010). This mini-series served as a continuation of (of sorts) to the original “Heroes” TV series and featured some of the original cast members from that TV show including Jack Coleman, Zachary Levi, Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. This “Heroes Reborn” event series ran from 2015 through 2016 and aired on NBC. This Blu-ray release was actually originally slated for release way earlier in this year, but it seems that was pushed back, and now it’s seeing release.

Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The Blu-ray is available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.
