“Aquaman” starring Jason Momoa is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2018 DC Extended Universe film “Aquaman” starring Jason Momoa is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 26th, via Warner. The film, directed by James Wan, co-stars Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio in both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio, without the sound format being yet specified. Stay tuned for an update on that. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both including a digital copy of the film. Further below, after the break, you can find the official announcement regarding the standard releases of the film where there is no mention of the rumored Blu-ray 3D listed on retailers.

“Vox Lux” starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law is coming to Blu-ray in March

The 2018 Brady Corbet written & directed film Vox Lux starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law is coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 5th, via Universal. The film, a musical drama, co-stars Stacy Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Raffey Cassidy, and features Willem Dafoe as the narrator. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 1.66:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The upcoming Blu-ray is available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. Bonus materials set to be included on the release, in addition to a Digital Copy, are listed below.

RUMOR: the DC Extended Universe film “Aquaman” starring Jason Momoa appears to be coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on (or around) March 26th via Warner. This comes from the placement amongst other upcoming titles on a certain retailer. The film, directed by James Wan, co-stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Ludi Lin.

The tech specs and bonus materials for the releases have not at all been detailed, but stay tuned for a later update. It is known that both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K UHD Blu-ray getting a Blu-ray Disc included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both will include a Digital Copy of the film. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray of the film are now available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. Lastly, it is known that Best Buy will be getting an exclusive Steelbook for both versions of the film (on 4K and Blu-ray) which you can find pictured below.

The 2000 Mary Harron directed film “American Psycho” starring Christian Bale is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 25th via Lionsgate. The release will come in an “Uncut Version” (UNRATED), not the R-rated theatrical cut. Tech specs for the release include full 2160p 4K video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both varieties of High Dynamic Range, HDR10 and Dolby Vision will be included. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc, as well as a Digital Copy, of the film also included. It’s not yet available for pre-order over at Amazon but stay tuned for an update. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

The “Jack Ryan 5-Film Collection” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray this August

According to an early alert to retails the “Jack Ryan 5-Film Collection” it seems is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 21st via Paramount. The films had been rumored for 4K release individually, however now we get confirmation via this retail listing that they will be bundled – just as the first 4 films have been on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats. The release contains the following films:

  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” (2014)
  • The Sum of All Fears” (2002)
  • Clear and Present Danger” (1994)
  • Patriot Games” (1992)
  • The Hunt for Red October” (1990)

Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed by the studio, but stay tuned for an update. The title is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon.

“Platoon” Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray with new transfer coming September

The 1986 Oliver Stone film “Platoon” in a Limited Edition Steelbook packaging with a new transfer is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 18th via Shout! Factory. This release promises to be “the definitive edition” of the film on Blu-ray. Tech specs include full 1080p HD video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. This (as mentioned) contains a new 4K transfer of the film that was actually approved by Writer/Director Oliver Stone himself. The title is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon.
