“Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” comes to Blu-ray

The classic 1969 Hanna-Barbera animated TV show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? The Complete Series is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a 50th-anniversary limited edition set on September 3rd via Warner. The set, styled after a mystery mansion, will be limited to 50,000 copies in total. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed, but you can expect full 1080p HD video and likely lossless (DTS-HD Master Audio) sound. The 4-disc set will include all 41 of the original episodes of the animated series as well as some new bonus materials and even physical extras like a Funko keychain and a “Scooby-Doo!” Encyclopedia (shown below).

“The Big Bang Theory” Season 12 Blu-ray November

TV Show The Big Bang Theory: The Twelfth and Final Season is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 12th via Warner. The show, created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, ran from 2007 through 2019 and it featured a cast of Johnny GaleckiJim ParsonsKaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik. Tech specs for the twelfth season on Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound spanning across a 2-disc set. The 2019 horror film The Curse of Llorona is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 6th via Warner. The film, directed by Michael Chaves, stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, and Sean Patrick Thomas. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include full 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound [misspelled in the press release]. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film included. The Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. “The Banana Splits Movie” comes to Blu-ray August

The 2019 horror/comedy The Banana Splits Movie is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 27th via Warner. Yes, those loveable Hanna-Barbera children’s TV show characters are back and they’re edgy this time; like I mean, they’re really edgy. The film (rated R), directed by Danishka Esterhazy, stars Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, Dani Kind, Romeo Carere, Steve Lund, and Sara Canning. This movie is also set to air at some point also on the SyFy TV network, although that remains to be announced. So, it just seems it’s pretty much a direct-to-video premiere for this movie. Hell, I’m surprised it exists!!

The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can very likely expect 1080p HD video and some form of perhaps lossless 5.1 sound — although that is yet to be confirmed. The Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” (certainly NOT for the whole family) with a DVD and digital copy of the film included. Joe Dante film Gremlins comes to 4K in October

The 1984 Joe Dante directed film Gremlins is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st, via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus, starred Zach GalliganPhoebe CatesHoyt Axton, Corey Feldman, and Dick Miller. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray and a digital copy of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for pre-order (with release date listed) over at Best Buy. Speaking of Best Buy, the retailer will be getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K release (pictured below) which is also already available for pre-order. Stay tuned for further info regarding this upcoming release. I must say, that Steelbook cover art is pretty simplistic.

Pan’s Labyrinth comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray in October

The 2006 film Pan’s Labyrinth is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st via New Line (Warner), according to an early alert to retailers. The film, from Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro, starred Ivana BaqueroAriadna GilSergi López, Maribel Verdú, and Doug Jones. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. You can find the film available now to pre-order over Amazon and Best Buy. Popeye The Sailor: The 1940s Vol. 2 Blu-ray in June

More of the classic colored cartoon theatrical shorts of Popeye The Sailor: The 1940s Volume 2 are coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 18th via Warner Archive. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 sound. All of the shorts have been remastered in 4K from the original camera negatives. DC film Shazam! is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2019 DC film “Shazam!” starring Zachary Levi is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray format, Blu-ray Disc, and Blu-ray 3D formats on July 16th via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, based on the DC comics character and directed by David F. Sandberg, co-starred Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Djimon Hounsou, and Meagan Good. The film has received much critic-acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, it is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release(s) include 1080p video and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround. All three releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray will be getting a DVD, the Blu-ray 3D will be getting standard 2D Blu-ray, and a digital copy of the film will be included on each. Jonny Quest: Complete Series on Blu-ray in June

The classic 1964 animated TV series Jonny Quest: The Complete Original Series is coming at some point in June to Blu-ray Disc via (and according to) Warner Archive Collection. They [Warner Archive] posted a tease to it yesterday to social media [Facebook] with some details, but no exact release date. UPDATE: The release date is June 11th. The show, a Hanna-Barbera production created by Doug Wildey, featured a voice cast of Tim Matheson (Johnny Quest), Mike Road (Roger T. ‘Race’ Bannon), Danny Bravo (Hadji), and Don Messick (Bandit). Johnny Quest as a show ran for a total of 26 episodes spanning across 1964 through 1965. All 26 of those episodes will be presented uncut, uncensored, and remastered! So, since there’s no exact release date but a tad bit of info regarding the release let’s start off with tech specs. It will be presented in 1080p HD video (from new masters) in the original 1.33:1 (4×3) aspect ratio with a (lossless) DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound mix. The set will span across three BD-50 Blu-ray Discs and it will also include the following bonus materials.

DC Universe movie Batman: Hush on 4K and Blu-ray

The DC Universe animated movie “Batman: Hush” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 13th via Warner. The animated film, based on the graphic novel (of the same title) written by Jeph Loeb, was directed by Justin Copeland and it features a voice cast of Jason O’Mara, Peyton List, Peyton List, Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Morrison, Rainn Wilson, Jerry O’Connell, Tara Strong, Vanessa Williams, and Jason Spisak. Tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed but it has been obviously mentioned (in the press release) that the 4K will include HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range. Both films should receive 5.1 lossless mixes, likely in the DTS-HD Master Audio format, although that has not yet been confirmed. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray are both now available for pre-order over at Amazon. The release will both come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both getting a digital copy of the film.
